Re: Help. Leaving on my boat to cross pacific at end of week, and just broke my Ic-7000
Guy, After changing the diodes around, did you do a full factory reset? Maybe you did, you didn't mention it in your email. On Tue, Apr 3, 2018 at 1:43 PM, Guy Stevens <guy@...> wrote:

I was just there last Thursday! I have a 7000 and at-180 I could sell you. It was actually recently returned from Icom for a checkup. It’s in good shape. On Tue, Apr 3, 2018 at 1:44 PM Guy Stevens <guy@...> wrote:

Help. Leaving on my boat to cross pacific at end of week, and just broke my Ic-7000
Hey there guys, Unfortunately I had already done this modification, and the first mod I clicked on said I was supposed to remove 2 diodes, So I removed 2172 and had already removed 2170. The radio is now pretty deaf. I put the diode that I had removed from 2170 into the space in 2172 and re-soldered it, but no luck. S meter doesn't work right and it is mostly deaf. My whole station is set up for this radio, and I know how to use it. I can't fathom getting a new different radio in the time I have. (My crew could walk into HRO in oakland and grab whatever, but it wouldn't fit the setup I have on the boat.) Anyone want to sell me their Icom 7000, and ship it Fed Ex to my crew in CA? |
Re: Radio goes deaf when changing frequencies
开云体育Nope.? No difference.? It was sitting at about 11 o’clock when it’s normally set to 12 o’clock.? If I rotated if more CCW, I could block out a transmission like I had seen in the past.? Still haven’t had a chance to do a full reset yet, let alone any disassembly. |

Could it be the cable itself that's faulty? On Wed, Mar 28, 2018 at 5:03 AM, <aurelian.bria@...> wrote: Hi all, |

The problem you describe is caused by the tuner interface placing a voltage greater than 3.3 VDC on TUNER port pin 1, which is TKEY.? TKEY is clamped via two diodes to +3.3 VDC bus and to ground.? When TKEY signal is driven to a voltage greater than 3.3 VDC the 3 volt bus to the CPU is affected also which is connected to the CPU VREF pin, which results in an incorrect A/D converter output.? This causes the temperature gauge to read too high and the fan to turn on when it isn't really needed.

Something has failed on the IT-100's interface port.? LDG never provides schematics for their products, so unless you can find a short or damaged component by visual examination or with a meter, it may have to be returned to an LDG service center.? If you measure the voltage on TUNER port pin 1 to ground (pin 4), that should confirm if this is your problem. Steve, W3AHL Something is wrong with my IC-7000 or my LDG IT-100. It used to work very well before, but now I got this.? When I connect the LDG tuner with the cable to the IC-7000 the temperature indicator goes to maximum and ventilation starts. LDG tuner does not tune any more, the radio does not even recognize it. LDG tuner does not answer at all to any button push. ICOM radio works well...sensitivity is not affected...it even goes into TX wihout problems..except the temperature indicator. |

I seem to recall that when the IC-7000 was released there was talk that the IC-7000 used the same data path/line for the tuner control and temperature control. I am guessing there is something wrong with the tuner internally that is pulling one of the lines high or low permanently which is fooling the IC-7000 temperature sensing circuitry.? It sounds like a high SWR situation. Test the rig on a dummy load and Wattmeter. Check the 4 pin connection between the rig and the tuner. I have the LDG AT-100 Pro 2 which works with any rigs so I'm not using the tuner connector. On Wed, Mar 28, 2018, 4:14 PM <aurelian.bria@...> wrote: Hi all, |

Re: Radio goes deaf when changing frequencies
开云体育If the Df ?is large enough, then yes, I hear the relays click.? For example when I tune from 7.300 MHz to 7.301 MHz I hear a relay clicking, so they seem to be working.? However, the deafness can come on with much less frequency change than what it takes to switch a relay, on the order of a few kHz. |
Re: Radio goes deaf when changing frequencies
开云体育Thanks for all the suggestions.? Hopefully one weekend (soon) I’ll be able to run through them and see if they made any difference. ? Wish me luck! |
