Re: display problem
Hello Tom, I had exactly the same problem that I solved yesterday. There is a small connector named J2231 on the main unit, next to the internal speaker connector. This connector carry the video signal to the display unit. I think you should check this connection by moving it slightly and see what happens on the display. The shielded wire on this connector is very brittle and the inner wire is made of a single copper wire, so very fragile if manipulated too much. I my case, because I unplugged and plugged the jack in the connector a lot of times (I had to fix another problem on my 7000) the inner copper wire was broken and these was a bad, intermittent connection that caused the problem. For example, if you use an antenna tuner plugged to the 4 poles flat connector, plugging and unpluging it can move the connector J2231 and cause the problem (the 4 wires of the 4 poles flat connector run just on the top of J2231 and they move when? you plug and unplug the external tuner’s connector). I my case, moving the external part of the tuner’s connector caused the “wawy” display. I hope this can help. Please let me know. I tried my radio in a couple of other modes and the same thing happened.? Transmit = wavy display.? Not transmitting = wavy display.? My guess is that there is some stray RF getting into my radio but I don't know if that is correct or if it is, what could be causing it.? There are not any new electronics or electrical systems/sources in my home.? Everything is the way it always has been.? Any assistance that?anyone could be provide would be much appreciated.? For me, "opportunistic setting" by software that simply sets the time as part of its initialisation routine would be sufficient for my needs.??? Speaking of timers, the one big omission in my book is that there is no PTT timeout timer, so if you're running software control and something hangs, the radio could get stuck in transmit.??? I think he was already setting to WWV. ?Losing a full minute in only two weeks is entirely unacceptable. ?We're not talking about microseconds here, we're talking minutes. ?Apparently, ICom didn't put too much effort into the clock circuits. ?That's a shame especially for a where time is used in the very process, such as logging.
I once had a Timex watch that must have been a fluke (not a Fluke, hi). ?I swear it was so accurate it was scary. ?It gained or lost (forget which) only about 2 seconds in a YEAR. ?Maybe ICom should have partnered with Timex! Unfortunately, never had another one like that!?

May I suggest a simple solution? Since this is a HF RADIO, how about one tune in WWV or other location-dependent time reference and
synchronize the radio to THAT? If accuracy is what you want, you're only limited by your reflexes and the speed of light. If you need it to be more accurate, you're in the wrong business! 73, AA7SR |

Re: IC7000 Internal Clock Problem
Problems with the clock keeping time may be in part due to the clock battery getting weak. Yes, there is a battery that is only used for the RTC - clock chip. I had one IC-7000 with a battery that failed..To use the clock it had to be set every time you turned on the rig. I gave up on it..? A pain to change the battery.. not worth the bother. My solution was to forget about the clock. I use a cheap little clock, there are lots of them available. 73 - Ken - VE5KC ---In ic7000@..., <jeff.freedman@...> wrote: It would appear from the thread that more than the rig’s clock is off! ? de K7JF ? ______________________________________________________ ???????????????????????????????? jeff freedman? |? gig harbor, washington ??????????????? 开云体育I live fairly close to the city of Kitimat in northwestern British Columbia; the power that feeds the Rio Tinto smelter in Kitimat sometimes finds its way in to the BC Hydro power supply. The Rio Tinto supply is a couple of hertz slower than BC Hydro supply. Consequently, sometimes a/c supplied clocks are out a few minutes here and there. On Nov 6, 2013, at 9:28 PM, gre99qd@... wrote:
