Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
I use the external speaker, which has the same plug.

Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
Those instructions are accurate and the only way to get into adjustment mode. The only potential problem I can think of is some 3.5mm plugs have an overmolded body that is too large to allow the plug

Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
Thanks Steve. I'm in the service manual now on page 4-1
ENTERING THE ADJUSTMENT MODE
1 Turn the transceiver’s power OFF.
2 Connect the JIG plug (see illustration below) to [REMOTE] jack on

Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
Because sometimes a tuner IS the answer.
Most hams don't have the real estate or the supporting structures to
install a resonant antenna with no reactance.?? Antenna tuners have been
around before

Learn how to measure antennas,
and you will find that yours is way off.

Why do people think a tuner is the answer?

Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
I think that to disable a tuner connected to the 7000, you simply need to press the tune button. That will prevent the radio from engaging the tuner. If you press and hold the tune button, that will

Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
There is no tuner in a ‘7000.
And I can show off, 335 countries, 60 years, and never owned an antenna tuner.

Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
Resonance doesn't mean that the antenna is matched to a 50 ohm load. An antenna can be resonant and present a 10, 50, 400, 5000, etc. ohm impedance at the feed point.
I don't know of an easy way

Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
Oh but my fondest wish is that I could get the SteppIR to behave as a resonant antenna, Norris. The SteppIR is modeled at 55 ft out in the open. Mind is at 30 ft on top of a roof and WAYYY to close

Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 tune button
If you have a SteppIR why do you even have a tuner in line?
Resonant antennas don’t need one.

IC 7000 tune button
Howdy All,
Is there a way to disable the tune button on the IC 7000?
Station configuration: IC 7K > KPA 500 > LDG AT1000 Pro II tuner > 2 element SteppIR

Re: [IC-7000] group migration
YahooGroups could last forever or it could shut down any time. Support from Yahoo pretty much ended a couple years ago and now that Verizon owns it no one knows what they plan to do.

Having also moved a couple of groups to .IO, I found out the sdame as others, seamless transition. From a user's point of view, it works just about the same, e-mail or web based. I'm for a move.
