This could well be a good clue as I dont't think it happens first in
France. Laws are too tight in terms of certification and thus making things appear later in this territory. Arrgh!! You're right. And I am a firm believer in the metric system, even though living in the USA. My Dutch-born mother-in-law says that if she could learn the US system at age 40+, everyone else can learn the metric system if they start in school.

I spoke to Icom France (Country from where we first saw the ad) and
they confirmed that they expect to have more info shortly and that the radio would see its days before the end of this semester. By experience with the french market, it always takes longer than expected but for the facts I have seen, I do believe there will actually be one available this year. That would be a good marketing idea, but I don't really tnink so as
it seems to me (IMHO) that guessing or knowing what we users expect is not that difficult. time) about 15 years ago Radio Shack was planning the release of a new piece of equipment (a Ham Rig or a computer, I can't remember). They started one of these vapor-ware rumor-mills and monitored the discussion. Well, it is not in production yet so no one has seen it. But with the spec
set to HF 100w in almost the same package as the 706…A/T is not possible.... Subscription to the group is in the usual yahoo-group manner. I just received my Icom 756 Pro III last week and absolutely love it. I am looking for a small backup Icom with an A/T. Does the IC7000 have such a thing ? Yes I did read this too. But IC-718 and IC-703 came after the IC-746

I've been thinking that a neat project would be to build my own DVR that includes a CI-V interface so that it can automatically record the frequency and mode as well as the time. Have one button that would record the frequency, mode and time along with a voice recording on the first push; subsequent button pushes could append to the voice recording. A second button would simply log the end time without requiring a voice recording at all. I doubt I'll ever bother doing it, but it's fun to think about... |
