Re: CW keyer not working
开云体育Make sure the radio mode is CW. Any other mode and you won't hear the side tone.73 de KC4SM Apr 3, 2023 12:04:27 AM Daniel Uppstr?m <vfz.daniel@...>: Hi group, |
CW keyer not working
开云体育Hi group,I am trying, and trying, to get the CW keyer memories play. But they simply won't. I can set the content of the four memories without problem, but when going into KEY->SND and then pushing an F-key for any of the memories it produces just a normal button beep. It does not play the CW message. Anyone having a clue about what could be wrong here? Thanks, Daniel SM6VFZ |
Re: Running an IC-7600 & IC-7000 with One Amp
I wonder if you couldn't force the IC-7000 power output down to 0 if you input a voltage on the ALC input of the Accessory connector (pin 6). if it works you could build an external delay circuit to apply full ALC rollback for 10ms each time PTT is detected. I'm currently running in my shack, an Icom IC-7600 into an ARB-704 buffer interface into an Ameritron AL-80A (also the same as the Heathkit SB-1000 3-500Z) amp. All is fine and works great. I also have an IC-7000 that I took out of my mobile that I'm now thinking about also running into the same amp (one radio at a time of course). And only using one antenna out of the amp. I thought I'd try it as opposed to letting it sit on a shelf or selling it. I have a 5 position relay operated remote switch, an Ameritron RCS-8V, 5 inputs, one port out that will handle switching of the 2 radio's RF out, into an automatic "switcher", that will direct whichever radio is sending the keying signal into the ARB-704 first, then to the amp. I believe, but am not totally sure if my IC-7000's HSEND keying signal into the buffer interface will work perfectly as my IC-7600 does keying the amp, with its 10ms TX Delay. There does not seem to be any option for setting a TX Delay on my IC-7000 as there is on my IC-7600. So, to sum it up, any suggestions as to my concerns with keying the amp as I've outlined above, would be greatly appreciated. TIA Alan Raskind, AB6C |
Re: Running an IC-7600 & IC-7000 with One Amp
I used the ARB-704 with my IC-7000 and Heathkit linear. While the IC-7000 does use a relay it has a low voltage and current rating and would be an issue changing it out.
I am not aware of a keying delay for the IC-7000, but I never had any problems with it while I was using it with the Heathkit.? After a while I bought an IC-2KL and AT-500 that integrated perfectly with the IC-7000 and later my IC-7600. As an aside I ended up selling the IC-2KL and AT-500 and upgrading to a PW-1 when one offered itself at a good price. The PW-1 has dual inputs for 2 exciter/transceivers.? I sold the three IC-7000s I had collected and wish I had another every day. They are just such a pretty little radio. Too bad Icom did not put a color display on the IC-7100! |

Would you want to sell it to a guy who likes to work on blown up radios?

开云体育Chip I have a new-in-box IC-7000.? You can have it for what I paid, but I have to dig and find the invoice from DxEngineering. Craig WA6OXK On 4/2/2023 08:53, Chip Stratton wrote:

Re: software
I have found that even the cheapest Baofung (sp?) programming cable will work for the IC-7000 TTL logic rs-232. Buy one that says it will work with WIn 10 and cut the connectors off and take the two "hot wires" and solder the two to the tip of a 3.5 mm plug and the shield to the ground.
I have used these adapters without problems for years. On quick check would be to download WSJT-X and connect to the CAT and control the frequency of the radio. If it will do that you should be able to use RT systems. As a matter of fact try that with you existing cable as you can quickly check for CAT connections on the cable you currently have. |
Re: software
If your cable is trying to use a Prolific system driver, that is probably the problem.? ?There were so many Chinese clones of the Prolific chip set, that they rewrote their drivers to not work with the cloned chips.? When Microsoft updates,? it loads the new driver. The solution is to find a programing cabe that uses the FTDI chipset.? Also check your device manager for correct port and speed settings. Since you're using RT software,? I understand it will no run on Mac or Linux,? but I? could? be wrong.? Joe KR0UT? Re: software
Thanks for the replies.I have had a RT systems disc loaned to me but I can not get it to download the frequencies on the ic7000 .I suspect the interface cable but have no idea how test it. This is a priority device so my other interface cables dont work with RT.I thought I might try another programme to prove a point?

I use the IC7000 software from here: www.qsl.net/iz2nxf/ It is simple, and works just fine. 73 de Phil GU0SUP -----Original Message-----
