Re: Rumor mills time!!! 7000/7100 replacement?
A radio similar to the IC-705, but that would use the old style tuner control so that we would not have to swap the accessories out.
Perhaps a tuner built into a remote box. I think that the main unit of the IC-7100 is not so bad, but the control panel is uninspired. If they had just used a little color and had a display output it would have been a great radio. Replacing a pretty radio with a drab "Upgrade" makes on question the thinking that went into it. Even upgrading the panel unit of the IC-7100 would be an improvement, but the electronic circuitry in the unit is questionable today as it is very complicated and has a bunch of obsolete parts. Today an SDR would probably be much cheaper and building on the IC705 would make a lot of sense. It would not be that hard to make a main unit with a 100 watt amp and antenna tuner built in (a tuner with a lot more range than 4 :1 would be nice. A simple switching arrangement for QRP for these who wanted to go that way as well. Personally I find the waterfall and spectrum to be of little use, pretty, but not much value on a small screen. The output to a nice big monitor would be a big plus, however. |

Rumor mills time!!! 7000/7100 replacement?
Now Allan is going to kill me with this one ;P
Wondering if anyone heard anything about a new 100w mobile from ICOM?? Lets face it the 706/7000 formfactor was a lot better than the 7100, I would even argue that the 746based user interface was not the greatest...? yes the 7100 had a lot more features... but... And the 7100 is way past its due date to be replaced... So WHEN... OH! When... My guess would be a 705/905 form factor, 100w, Bluetooth, Wifi, HF/VHF/UHF... 7300/705/905/9700/etc... user interface what say you... 73

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThat might work. Which ZLP are you using and what software programs?I¡¯m mostly interested in WSJT and VARA HF for WinLink 73 Gary, K2GW? On Aug 25, 2022, at 11:57 AM, Paul G8NRY <info@...> wrote:

Re: Sound Card Modes through the Control Head
I have my 7000 tucked away in my RV. With the rig is a ZLP mini digital interface with built in sound card and a 2 port mini usb hub connected to the ZLP and 7000 C-IV leads. This combines the Data, PTT and CAT ports into a single long USB cable to a USB socket in the cab. Of course that cable is heavily screened with lots of ferrites but works well. Maybe you could do something similar?

Sound Card Modes through the Control Head
My IC-7000 has given me ten years of loyal service in my Pathfinder, mostly on SSB., The radio body and the LDG antenna tuner are mounted out of the way back in a storage area in the luggage area near the HF antenna mount, while the control head and speaker are mounted up front by the driver's seat. Does anyone have ideas for getting on sound card modes such as FT8 or Winlink using a laptop physically connected to the IC-7000 control head only?? Getting temporary computer connections to the radio body itself would be impossible.? What small commercial interfaces might be used to connect a laptop temporarily to the control head when operating such digital modes is desired? |

Bonjour, Sur mon ic7000? d¨¨s ann¨¦es 2000 l'ALC a toujours ¨¦t¨¦ faible avec le micro HM-151. Je l'ai remplac¨¦ par un micro amplifi¨¦ sm8 et sm20, gain r¨¦gl¨¦ ¨¤ 50%, ALC fonctionne bien. 73's F6FSC.?

Re: Audio Levels Very Low - Normal?
Agreed.? Consider checking voltage at the mic plug (carefully). Should be +8 volts. See attachment. Russ

Re: Audio Levels Very Low - Normal?
I don't know what mike you are using, but Icom, especially the older ones, need a high output to function correctly.
Most are electret amplified and have + voltage on the mike lead to provide the operating voltage. Yaesu and Kenwood have a different arrangement where the + voltage is not on the mike line and the power is coupled to the mike amplifier in another way. You might want to try a full reset to see if that helps. Have you tried both mike jacks? Rear and face panel? |
