Re: Kit to use Sharper Image 7" TV as External Monitor for IC-7000
开云体育Regarding a battery pack, I would also like to be able to use it as originally intended!

Re: Connect CT-17 to IC7000 (error)
This is correct if you are no longer using the CT-17 interface box.
As I have said I have used a cheap (TTL) Boefeng programming cable with the end cut off and the RX and TX signals tied together to the tip of the 3.5 MM plug.? There is no real secret to the CAT other than the counterfeit Prolific chips and windows.? |

Problem solved.? I was using wrong cable
between monitor and the 7000.? The video
from the 7000 goes via a simple mono cable?
(3.5mm output jack)?to a yellow?RCA
male?
plug which then connects to the?yellow?RCA?
jack of a multi-conductor cable which plugs
into the TRRS video input jack on the monitor.

When I hook it up, the monitor shows "NO SYNC."
Is there something in/on the 7000 I need to do to make it work?
It had worked in the past, but maybe I have forgotten something

Re: Connect CT-17 to IC7000 (error)
Not only the Prolific might not work - it PROBABLY will not work! So many counterfeit chips out there and the Windows drivers really do care.?
Get a known FTDI (?) cable. I can't tell you how many people have wasted days, weeks and months with bad cables and RS-323 cables.? As an aside I have used a Befoeng programming cable with the connectors cut off and RX and TX to the tip of the 3.5 mm plug and it worked just fine with my IC-7000.? |
Re: Connect CT-17 to IC7000 (error)
开云体育The one thing I see that MIGHT be a problem is the Prolific USB to Serial Adapter. FTDI adapters are much more compatible. Prolific adapters are known to be problematic but if it is working with one radio it should work with the other. ? The cable between the 7000 and the CT-17 should be an 1/8” mono cable. I have seen with my setup where one 1/8” cable wouldn’t make a connection when plugged in. Used a different cable and it worked. ? Otherwise, I haven’t a clue why it’s not working. ? Greg NZ6E |

Re: Kit to use Sharper Image 7" TV as External Monitor for IC-7000
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314056349551 is all I use and the resolution is good enough for that size using the simple lead from the 7000. Not heard of the 'sharper' kit though - the 7000 already puts out a standard composite video signal, nor why you would need a battery as you can just use the 12v supply for the rig?

Re: Connect CT-17 to IC7000 (error)
Hello Greg
Thank you for your reply.
I have already done everything you said. no result.
I got the result when I connected the old Icom R20 I have according to the scheme below. I am running the Icom R20 through HamRadioDeluxe. When I connected the Icom 7000 also according to the circuit, the error occurred. The Icom7000 wiring diagram did not provide complete information on the cable to be connected. Even when I connect it with 2 different cables, there is no result. Do you have any information on what cable to use when connecting CT17 to Icom7000? |

You can also look at my CT17B products, at WWW.VE2DX.COM?they are not outdated from the 1970`s like the ICOM CT17 :P

Thanks, Charles.
I know the Arrow antennas.? I've seen them at hamfests for years, but Elk antennas don't ring a bell.? I'll go look. 73, Bob -- W4ATM - 35 Miles south of the Kennedy Space Center Retired RF Design Engineer Now able to play with all the hobbies I never had enough time for |
Re: Connect CT-17 to IC7000 (error)
开云体育Do you have the CT-17 connected to the Computer through the DB25 on the back? You also have to power the CT-17 with 12 volts. Typically you’ll use a DB25 to DB9 serial adapter to connect to a DB9 serial port on your computer. You could also ise a USB to serial adapter to a db9 to db25 to feed the CT-17. The DB port takes RS232 data and converts it to TTL, which is what is flowing on the CI-V bus. The bundled cables shown in the CT-17 picture are used to connect between the CT-17 and the “Remote” jack on the back of the radio. ? Unless you absolutely must have more CI-V connections, it’s much easier to use the CI-V to USB cable shown. If you don’t use the DB25 on the CI-V then you can take the USB to CI-V cable and plug it into the CT-17 and use the other ports, you don’t need power to the CT-17 to do that. Look at the schematic and you’ll see those 4 1/8” ports are just paralleled, no electronics to speak of between them. ? Greg NZ6E ? ? ? ? ? Sent: Friday, July 8, 2022 6:18 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ic7000] Connect CT-17 to IC7000 (error) ? I want to control the icom-7000 from a computer using the HamRadioDeluxe software through the CT-17. I don't have a USB CI-V Cat Interface Cable to connect it directly to a computer.
I am using the following ci-v cable between Icom7000 and CT-17.
What cable should I use to connect CT-17 to Icom7000? Or is there some other error? If anyone has faced this problem, please help me |
