Mike, NA6MB, that's true...it was just an example ?

Re: Recent comments on IC7000 operation w/menus - Ham Radio Deluxe

Do you use DXLab with your IC-7000?? The reason I ask is that the video shows a much more capable rig for the demo, an IC-7800, and the Commander window shows the choice of IC-7800 and IC-9100. Those rigs have USB interfaces unlike the slower CI-V (RS-232 driven) interface that the 7000 has.? A controller can do more with it.

If I was starting from zero, I'd try DXLab first.? Since I've been using HRD for 18 years, I'm inclined to experiment more with it and see if I can get there.??

Back in early '16, I looked at DXLab for about a month to see if I wanted to renew HRD or dump it and start over.? I don't remember all the details from four years ago, but obviously stayed with HRD.

The priority, though, is I have about a month to do my outdoor antenna work and stuff before it gets too hot to be outside except morning and evening.? The radio and software will wait.

It is a bit confusing but on the Icom page for this, it includes an image of what is used to connect the 7000
The current brochure for the RS-BA1 in that link you sent doesn't have an IC-7000 that picture.? I doesn't mention it.? I know it's an obsolete product now, that probably has something to do with it not showing up.

The reason I asked was that I had looked in the brochure and didn't see the IC-7000.?

Re: MTTY config for IC-7000

Hi Geoff -

I run it in USB mode just like with any other digital program. Make sure to set up MMTTY inside your N1MM Logger+ folder in My Documents if using Windows. I made a folder called Digital Engines in which to copy the pertinent files per the online help instructions for MMTTY. There is a lot of little settings in N1MM and MMTTY to be tweaked - it took me about three days to get it all correct and running, but I made it in time for the NAQPRTTY contest last weekend. I made 17 contacts in nine states with a hamstick dipole hidden under the eaves of my roof, less than 10 feet off the ground. Let me know if you want or need help with the software config. I can send screenshots of specific panes if needed.

You can get the same experience with a fantastic FREE suite of programs.? Just Google DXLab Suite.

Here is a Link????

Under the Tab "Getting Started" is a great "Video Introduction to DXLab by Fred AB1OC"?

Mar 7 ? #40596??

It may be pricey but the RS-BA1 may be a viable option.
I hadn't thought of that software, but are you sure it works with the 7000?? There's a page of specific features and what radios they work with.? There's no mention of the 7000 in that table.

Re: New Band Added?

Thank you for responding Othmar. I accidentally added the extra band. I don't know how hi. I'd like to get rid of it. The only band I'd add might be 5 mhz but I really don't want anything between 30 and 20 meters. How can I remove it?

Re: New Band Added?

Hi Bill again ?

If you need more than one frequency in one band you can do this
with the supplied HM-151 microphone !
See page 28 of the english manual, "using the band-stacking-registers.

Re: New Band Added?

Hi Bill !

You can't put two frequencies of one ham-band into two "bands"...
The "extra-band" hast to be outside any amateur-band.
For example....with up/down go to 160m...select mode AM and tune to the MW-BC-band...
then again push "band up" and you are again on 160m.
All the other amateur-bands from 160m to 70cm are still there.
Then if you decide (for example) to have the CB-band ? as an "extra-band", go to 10m, tune out of the
band to 27.xxx MHz, push again "band up" and you are there, on 10m.
The "extra-band" you first "create" (MW) will be "shifted" now between the 12m-band and the 10m-band.

Hope this will help...

I can't answer your question, but it's along the lines of a problem I have.?

My IC-7000 is primarily for 2m and 70cm, but it's my backup rig for HF-6 also.? The problem is that I use it so infrequently that the menu structure messes me up.?

Complex menus are an issue with all smaller rigs because, well, they don't have the panel space.? What I'd dearly love to see is a piece of software that controls the radio and gives a front panel that requires less button pushing.? Especially the kind of button where if you just push it, the button does one thing, but if you hold it down two seconds it does something else, and if you hold it down three seconds while standing on your left foot, it's different than if you're standing on your right foot.? OK, I made that last one up, but I think you know it seems like that sometimes.

For what it's worth, I can control the rig (to some extent) with Ham Radio Deluxe but it doesn't do what I'd like.? I think the last time I tried something like changing the IF filter in HRD, it changed something else at the same time.? I need to check that.? The problem is, for an obsolete radio that a few of us own, it's not going to get the attention it would get if it was a something like the IC-7300 that everybody is interested in. I doubt anyone would do it.

Nope...it keeps going back to 10.753 hi.

Re: New Band Added?

Thanks Chuck...I'll do that. Probably put it in CW portion of 75 and leave the original on the high end for SSB.
