Re: IC-7000 Outdoors
Steven, Yes,? I did.? However, I could not find a set? of brightness/contrast that produced a readable screen.? Just too much ambient light. Robie On Sun, Jul 8, 2018 at 4:17 PM Steven Linley <linleysa@...> wrote:

FWIW -- Try cleaning the contacts on the connectors between the faceplate and the body -- or between the faceplate, remote cable, and body (if you have separated the rig). Use alcohol, go over them twice.? No abrasive, no oily contact cleaner. .? ? ? Charles / VA7CPC |
Re: F buttons not working

Not a problem I remember seeing mentioned by other owners.? Most of the push buttons on the display head are set up in groups of four in series with resistors in between them.? When a button is pushed it grounds the series resistor chain, which determines the voltage that is read by an A/D input on the CPU, which deterrmines which button was pushed, that causes a control message to be sent to the main CPU.? If all of the other buttons seem to work, then there is either a problem with the CPU A/D input signal (pin 79, K1IL for the Fn switches), the pullup resistor to 3.3 VDC for? K1IL (R2017) or one of the series resistors between the switches.
A service manual and an ohmmeter can verify the resistors, PCB trace and switches are OK.? If so, then it may be a problem with the Display's CPU or the solder joint of pin 79.? Steve, W3AHL |

Re: IC-7000 Outdoors
All, Thanks for the many suggestions! 1. I spent a good deal of time optimizing the display on the IC-7000, however I could not find a combination of color, contrast and brightness that worked.? The level of light from the sun simply overpowered the display.? I used the N1MM as my logging program and my PC was significantly easier to view than the transceiver. 2. Most suggestions related to use of a external monitor using the video output capabilities of the IC-7000.? This the approach i will try next. 3. Perhaps I can come up with a better location next year. Maybe something with 3 sides to block some of the sunlight. Thanks again, Robie - AJ4F? Setting up radio to scan a-e to scan
Chris McTavish
Hi all this is driving me nuts.
I I have the RTS software for the radio and I can’t get it to work with the ARRL repeater software I have tried downloading a image of the “a” bank and then using the ARRL software to create a route of no more than 96 repeaters to upload to the “A” bank what happens is the radio did it at first then it stopped doing it and now I cannot even go to the other banks. ?It keeps looking for my KENWOOD radio is there any way that I may could have knocked out my memory templates in the radio? Does anybody have advice? thank you, N7VPI |
Re: IC-7000 Outdoors
开云体育If you do use an external monitor be sure to have the monitor unplugged at the mains before plugging in to the radio video out. I have seen one that was damaged from a voltage spike and took out the Logic board. ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: ic7000@groups.io <ic7000@groups.io> on behalf of D C *Mac* Macdonald <k2gkk@...>

Set up an external monitor of appropriate size (maybe 7 to 14 inch diagonal {maximum}).? I use a 7 inch Sharper Image battery set that KB0XA used to make up a set of cables for direct connction to the 7000.? It's what I use in my Go-Box for Field Day.? Monitor
MUST accept composite video.? An older analog TV would work just fine.
I'm quite sure that Don has quite doing these kits, though.

All,
Several weeks ago I took my IC-7000 to Galveston and used it to activate the Tall Ship Elissa for Museum Ships Weekend.? Our station was setup on the pier along side the ship under an awning.? Bright sun streamed in from all sides.?
The display of the IC-7000 was not really visible.? I made a shade from a cardboard box, which helped but was not satisfactory.? I was able to use the logging software on my laptop to get things up and running, but the situation was not a good one.? I'm looking
for any suggestions to improve the situation for future outdoor operation,
Thanks in advance,

I always used an external monitor (7" was best resolution). I even used a larger monitor on field days so others could see it better. Good luck..... Joe Bennett - W6VMX From: Robie <ruler55@...> To: ic7000@groups.io Sent: Wednesday, July 4, 2018 2:11 PM Subject: [ic7000] IC-7000 Outdoors
