HI,
I would like to purchase an automatic tuner for my 7k. I have selected the MFJ-939I and the MFJ-993B. ?I would prefer the latter, as it is way more versatile. However, as far as I have understood, when I change frequency, the 939I tunes up without the need to push the "tune" button, while the 993B requires button pushing. Have I understood well?? Any recommendations for a good tuner? 73 Marco |
Re: IC-7000 used value
Warren Allgyer
I have one I would sell. It was a recovery project and is restored to full capability with a new processor. Includes mounting bracket, separation cable, mic. One always worries a bit when the 7000 has been opened up and especially when it has had major surgery like this one. But it works perfectly on all bands. $600 including shipping. Only selling because I have similarly restored IC-7100 and IC-706 and normally use an RS-HFIQ SDR for air so the 7000 is redundant. ? Warren Allgyer - WA8TOD |

Hi Marco, I am using for years the LDG Z-100Plus. Same width, but shorter, sits under the IC7000. The special cable furnished for the IC7000 enables using its TUNER button. Is half-price the MFJ993B at least overhere.2018-04-29 23:18 GMT+02:00 MARCO EVANGELISTA <marcoevang@...>: HI, |

Icom (at least used to) sell tuners for their radio lineup. AH-4, IIRC,
is one that should work fine with the 7000. It tunes a random-length wire
OK for most bands.

I have the MFJ kw version.? Not sure I would do it again.? Sent the first one purchased back to the factor shortly after purchase.? They kept it a LONG time and finally rather than repairing it sent me a new one.? One thing that I really don't like with mine. When on 80 meters and want to go to a higher frequency it is necessary to remove the power and reset it.? Otherwise it will not tune.? Have had problems with not tuning? on specific frequencies.? Example would not tune on lower end of 80 meters and not at all on 12 meters.? I happen to be using it frequently it finally tuned up on these frequencies.? But still will not tune on 10 meters.? 17 Meters I have to walk up in frequencies.? I start tuning on 20 meters, then go next to 17 meters, then to 15 meters, then to 12 meters. I call it walking up in bands is what I call it.? My opinion there is a bad relay and sometimes it works, sometimes not.?? I will likely continue using it, I am a senior citizen and? $$$ comes hard.? But I would not purchase the same unit again. There has to be something much better out there somewhere.?? James Brock 541-868-5827? ?DO NOT ACCEPT TEXTING
