Older IC-7000 were limited to 5 channels for 60m. and USB only. This no longer applies to the newer models. I have a newer IC-7000 (abt 6 months old). It transmits on a range of frequencies in the 60

Re: [IC-7000] IC-7000 on 60 meters????
The answer is yes. You will need to know the serial number of the IC-7000 you buy. Somewhere in the archives of this group is information on which serial numbers are "old" 60 meter

Re: IC-7000 on 60 meters????
Icom released the changes around 03/2012, effective with SN 0514455. I would hope any new stock would have the change by now. If not, the mod was released by Icom and takes about 10 minutes to do.

Re: [IC-7000] Inexpensive lithium-ion batteries.
Those interconnection straps are spot-welded to the cells, so not sure how much good it would do. If you tried soldering, the heat may damage the cell. Nickel can be soldered, but it's much harder

Re: [IC-7000] Inexpensive lithium-ion batteries.
I have repaired battery packs several times by soldering and causing no damage. In one case, the spot weld was bad and the strap was detached from a cell. Scrape both the cell end and the strap with a

Re: [IC-7000] Inexpensive lithium-ion batteries.
The strap has to be spot welded as it takes too much heat to solder and you could damage the cells. Check to see if you have a "Batteries R us" type store close to you. ?They can build packs for you
