IC7000
Hello all,
I just received my Icom 756 Pro III last week and absolutely love it.
I am looking for a small backup Icom with an A/T. Does the IC7000
have such a thing ? I am visually impaired and

Re: IC7000
Well, it is not in production yet so no one has seen it. But with the spec
set to HF 100w in almost the same package as the 706…A/T is not possible....
Subscription to the group is in the usual

Re: Announced in Dayton?
I remember hearing from my brother (a manager at Radio Shack at the
time) about 15 years ago Radio Shack was planning the release of a new
piece of equipment (a Ham Rig or a computer, I can't

Re: Announced in Dayton?
That would be a good marketing idea, but I don't really tnink so as
it seems to me (IMHO) that guessing or knowing what we users expect
is not that difficult. However the difficult part is to

Re: Announced in Dayton?
Hi Ken,
Only time will tell. If the worst case comes to pass and the product does a
no-show, I am sure there will be no hard feelings on our part!

Re: Announced in Dayton?
I spoke to Icom France (Country from where we first saw the ad) and
they confirmed that they expect to have more info shortly and that
the radio would see its days before the end of this

Re: Announced in Dayton?
Are there any size specs on this radio yet? I wonder if it's going to be larger,
smaller or about the
same size as the 706 series.

Past ICOM patterns?
What have the past ICOM patterns been for releasing new radios over
the years? Is ICOM France usually the fist place news is heard. Or is
this uncharacteristic? I was wondering if this would be a

Re: Announced in Dayton?
Hi Alan,
That's 20mm (approx. 0.8"). 20cm is about 8".
(I grew up with the metric system. "Ye kynges ffoote" joined the stable much
later in my life.)

Arrgh!! You're right. And I am a firm believer in the metric system, even though living in the USA. My Dutch-born mother-in-law says that if she could learn the US system at age 40+, everyone else can

Re: Past ICOM patterns?
This could well be a good clue as I dont't think it happens first in
France. Laws are too tight in terms of certification and thus making
things appear later in this territory.
I guess only time

Re: Announced in Dayton?
Just a trivial note.. I grew up in West Texas, and my cousin was the County
Agricultural Extension Agent... he did, and still does measure crops in
rods... Interesting, no?

If it's a hoax it's a good one.
Concerning the market: I doubt if France is a key market for Icom. To me it looks that the USA is the biggest market for HAM radio gear so one should expect the

Re: Past ICOM patterns?
Check again on that airliner thing. Boeing has announced quite a few
sales of its new planes and cited some specifications that basically
undercut the AirBus cost per passenger mile.
