In Europe, the old measures often linger on, but have been rationalised to the metric system. In Germany, one can still buy "ein Pfund" (one pound) of potatoes at the greengrocer's. One pound = precisely 0.5 kg. In Bavaria, one orders "ein Mass Bier" (a measure of beer) at the pub. The "Mass" is a 1-litre mug. Back to the IC-7000; its weight should be about the same as the IC-706MkIIG - around 2.5 kg (5.5 lb, US or Imperial.) Cheers for now, 73, Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ -----Original Message-----

My Dutch-born mother-in-law says that if she could learn the US system at age 40+, everyone else can learn the metric system if they start in school.
