I've never had a heat issue on my 2011 era IC-7000, but that's most likely because I do not do a lot of continuous duty/digital modes on it for any extended time periods. I also have it feeding an AH-4 tuner so it always sees close to a 1:1 SWR as well.

That said, I have always been concerned about it being a "hot" rig, that whenever operating I have always placed a 120mm PC case fan sitting on top blowing down on the heat sink and into the fan openings.? The fan is an ultra quiet model and powered by a separate USB cable plugged into my 100Ah LiFePO4 battery (I run off that battery when portable/parked and the truck battery when mobile) or to a USB port on the truck.? I've never seen my heat gauge above 30-40%, and it is rare that it ever leaves the cold end.
