I've always ran my IC-7000 with the separation kit mobile. Never had a problem with heating.

I attribute that to the main part of the radio was mounted in the spare tire wheel well belly. So the well is in the bottom of the trunk, under the car in the shade.?

Further I had the IC7000 connected to a AH-4 antenna tuner .. So my SWR was always 1:1.

I always ran SSB on HF and 95% FM on VHF-UHF. Operated a VHF contest once portable and? ARRL November sweepstakes SSB 2-3 times.

It was installed in my car, I bought new for 11-1/2 years till I traded it 3 months ago for a new Ford Maverick. . it had 152,600 miles on the odometer? and probably saw about 30 states in it's adventures as I was a senior field engineer (2nd-3rd level support)? for a global computer company.?
