Re: IC-7000 Remote

Richard,
It would certainly be possible?to configure an IC-7000 for remote control.
I have remoted an IC-7200 successfully, but it has an USB port.
Icom RS-BA1 software, or HamRadio Deluxe are options for software.

for the 7000, you will need a CIV interface cable, lots of USB versions out there, a sound card interface like a Signalink or others mentioned in the forum.
You will also need a Windows Computer, and a way to control power remotely. An internet connected smart switch like is used to control a light will work.
The smart switch is to allow you a way to power the system down remotely in the event of a TX lockup.

IC-7100, 7200 or 7300 have a built in USB interface for sound and CIV control.
Higher end Icoms like th IC-7610 have an ethernet port built in for remote operation, and a lot of other bells and whistles.? Still have to buy the remote software though.
I believe that Kenwood supplies the software for their?rigs at no charge, but the MSRP of a comparable rig compensates for that.

My 2? worth is to look at a newer rig, unless?you already have the accessory hardware on hand.
