The 7000 is my only DXpedition radio for operating portable from remote

expensive waste of time. I go small, light and the very best quality in all
my gear. The whole station fits in my backpack and I usually operate at 25
watts or more for about two hours (often in pile-ups) from a 26 ounce,
A-123, 4S2P, eight cell nanophosphate battery. I take two with me and
charge them while back at the villa or base for lunch. I have squeked as
many as 200 contacts from one battery. I have over 300 (40 minute) charges
on each and they are as strong as ever. They will be called on again in
February for a trip to the island of Bequia in the West Indies.

So the 7K on batts is both possible and very rewarding.
