Re: IC-7000 and SOTA

The 7000 is my?only DXpedition radio for?operating?portable from remote locations on battery power. My?equipment must work or the entire trip is?an expensive waste of time. I go small, light and the very best quality in all my gear.?The whole station fits in my backpack and I usually operate at?25 watts or more for about?two hours (often in pile-ups) from a 26 ounce, A-123,?4S2P, eight cell?nanophosphate battery. I take two with me and charge them while back at the villa or base for lunch. I have squeked as many as 200 contacts from one battery. I have?over 300 (40 minute) charges on each and they are as strong as ever. They will be called on again in February for a trip to the island of Bequia in the West Indies.

So the 7K on batts is both possible and very rewarding.
