Retired IBMrs Arguing
You two ladies (mouser and iggy) retired in probably NY and NJ have it rough for places to retire. Wish the two of you could meet up over a pizza and beer, say in Nyack and report back to us about your findings. TIA!

Moderation on ibmpension 8
It appears that I am not the only one who is not happy with the moderation on the ibmpension group. It is inconsistent and frustrating and makes the group much less useful than it could be. But what can be done about? Is there any means to make the moderators aware of the dissatisfaction? Protest? Vote? Exit? Other ideas? Does anybody really care?

Financial Advice. Really? 3
Once again, inconsistent moderation is really lowering value of time spent in the IBMPENSION. Credentials of those posting is very questionable; meanwhile there are so many other financial discussions on the Internet that are not loaded with disgruntled types from one employer and Boeing! If You Have a Company Pension, Consider Retiring Today 2
primosprimpsprimos on ibmpension writes: "SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND PLUS? And it was a bad deal (!), which means this very good player got moreas an annuity. Holy c***. No wonder the 1000 year old suck-up dinosaur I sat with in 1999 was gloating and wouldn't lift a finger to help me, who would have stood to get a pathetic little sum had Janet et al not come to my rescue. NOW I understand. So in 1999 it either paid to suck up mightily or be older than Methuselah. Now I know to whom Socks Bouchard was speaking when he touted the CB screw. Ahhhhhh, I can't wait for the de-risking screw. Like the CB screw, I'm sure IBM will have our best interests at heart. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA." The moderators decided not be post my response to this unbelievable append. Does this woman actually realize what she is saying? My reading is that since primos-cubed was screwed in 1999 (her often voiced opinion), she now hopes that those who her were not screwed as badly as she was back then, finally receive their fair share thru de-risking. A real team player, isn't she. No wonder her "1000 year old suck-up dinosaur" colleague, did not "lift a finger" to help her. As if he could have really done anything about it, even if he wanted to, which he clearly didn't.

Is meaningful participation in ibmpension group forever declining? 11
ibmpension group seems to be declining into oblivion. While the initial discussion of de-risking was interesting and valuable (thank you madinpok!), interest quickly died as a large segment of the membership decided to reminisce about the past. In an effort to refocus the group, the moderators cut off the historical discussion, which BTW seems reasonable to me since such is not the purpose of the group. But then, another group enthusiast reposted a March 24, 2014, with the publish date conveniently deleted, under the guise that the announcement was new news, so that the diehards could repeat everything they said way back when. I submitted a couple of posts reminded everyone of the original date of announcement. They, of course, were blocked by the moderators. This maneuvering is just another instance of how much the moderators and moderator enthusiasts continue to insult the intelligence of mainstream group participants. Do the moderators really believe that the participants in this group are so easily manipulated?

Where did all the CA's go from the ibmpension board? 2
I see that trexibmer wants to know: "Where did all the CA's go from this board? Did IBM RA you?" Two possible explanations: 1. The ibmpension moderators are choosing not to approve posts unless they are authored by a member of the disgruntled IBM community. 2. The posters who have been referred to as CAs are tired of being called CAs and have decided not to bother responding to trex, primos, the Dons, or any of the other disgruntles. In either case, what will the disgruntles do if their opportunities to counter dry up? Trying to Connect with PPA Participants Close to or Recently Retired 5
As the subject indicates I am trying to connect with some PPA participants who were NOT first or second choicers but were "supposedly" entitled to the "enhanced annuity" that have recently or are soon about to retire. I have uncovered something that IBM is attempting that I do not believe is supported by the PPA Plan Document as written. I believe it is an "interpretation" issue and am trying to determine if I should pursue legal action to attempt to challenge that interpretation. I prefer not to provide all of the details in this open forum. If you fall into the category described please respond and I will provide the details via email. Thank you!

Complaints
It seems like the right thing to do is to contact the administrator of a forum and have comments removed that you don't like. But consider this: You may post a comment that others may regard as inappropriate and should be removed. My suggestion: Use the scroll bar and accept some breakage.?? Censorship is a slippery slope.? ? ________________________________ Jack Butler

PPA Payment Calculations
I will be retiring in the November/December time frame this year and have been running PPA estimates. In the past the "Maximum Enhanced Annuity" was usually the accurate number for the monthly PPA amount. Apparently that number is now meaningless. I think it has to do with the low interest rate crediting factor going forward and the age 65 maximum restriction. It looks like now rather than the "Maximum Enhanced Annuity" being the number it is really just the Prior Plan number plus the settlement. Has anyone that is close to retirement or already retired on the PPA plan gone thru the details of these calculations with the ESC and can provide some insight? I would really like to connect with some folks who have gone thru this recently. Thanks.
