Are these sufficient files to have boards made in China please?
05 January 2020
I had 100 boards made for me in the UK and part of the deal is was I got the "files" to keep. I am running low on stock and the company that did them is no longer trading. Could someone kindly tell me if the files in the link below are sufficient to have another batch made, and which do I need and who could I use? They are through hole boards and I just want bare boards. Thanks. -- Best regards, Chris mailto:chris@... |

The zip file contains files with "kicad" in their names. Presumably they were made with the Kicad PCB design package. I'm not familiar enough with Kicad to say if the files are good and sufficient. If you don't get an answer here, you can try at?[email protected], along with some recommendations for PCB makers that can accept Kicad files. 开云体育Go to the PC board fab site, and then see what their requirements are, which files they want, and so on. Take the files you have, hopefully produced by a CAM program, and zip them.? submit those files as if you were going to make a board.? If you can see everything you're supposed to see, then you've got the files.? There's also gerber viewer programs available. If you don't have the files produced by the CAM program, then take the original kicad files, and run them through Kicad's CAM program.? Most pcboard houses that accept gerbers generally have a script you can use to make boards to their satisfaction.? SeeedStudio, for instance, accepts gerbers, and has downloadable programs for EAGLE (which I use) and Kicad, which I have yet to use. Harvey

? I took a quick look.? Looks like some Gerber files are missing. KICAD makes the Gerber files from the pcb file. You will need the following Gerber files to have the boards maade. Top Copper Bottom Copper Top Solder resist Bottom Solder resist Top silkscreen Bottom Silkscreen if you have silkscreen on the bottom Board Outline Drill file Dave - WB6DHW On 1/5/2020 1:51 PM, Chris Wilson wrote:

开云体育Just for some information here......... for anyone who wants to get PCBs made in a fabrication house...... The bare minimum requirement to get a single sided copper PCB will be to provide 4 files. 1. ONE copper bottom layer as a gerber file. 2. ONE solder mask file...also called RESIST file..... which defines where to have holes in the solder mask epoxy to expose cope to solder to. Note that some fab houses will accept a drill file that tells where to put those solder mask holes while other fab houses will only accept a gerber file for a maks file. 3. ONE EXCELLON format drill file which says where to poke holes in the PCB 4. ONE boarder outline gerber file that says how to slice the PCB to the correct size. ? ALL OTHER files can be omitted. They don't care if you have a silk screen to print on the top or the bottom.
Here is a perfect example of that minimalist file
set...zipped and send to OSHPARK that they created these two images then delivered the PCBs so..... all I am saying here is that if you have to reverse engineer a schematic and you get as far as a schematic...... you really don't need the silk screen artwork to get more PCBs made. Have fun. I did. Rob KB3BYT On 01/05/2020 09:09 PM, Dave wrote:

? I loaded the design files into Kicad and produced the Gerber files.? I ran them through the jlpcb.com Gerber Checker. You can get 5 boards for $2, 10 boards for $5 or 100 for $18.90 plus shipping.? The last boards I ordered were shipped by DHL and arrived in under a week! ? A couple of comments.? D4, in series with +12V, is backwards. Also, the board could use silkscreen noting the board title as well as the P1 thru P4 connections. Dave - WB6DHW <> On 1/5/2020 1:51 PM, Chris Wilson wrote:

开云体育Its good to see the Kicad files contained everything required to complete the gerber file set. So... what is it??? A power supply?

Hello Dave, and all who so kindly replied, apologies for my late
response, work took me away from home. Special thanks to Dave who has been an absolute star in converting these files to a supported format. I will now approach a couple of fabrication houses and I'll report back as to how I get on, it's all very much appreciated!! Monday, January 6, 2020 Best regards, Chris mailto:chris@... 开云体育Hello Rob,? ?Thanks for your e-mail i just found lurking in the wrong folder (my filters are complex and subject to the odd idiosyncrasy... ;)) It's an industrial device to clamp a signal from a pressure sensor at a given level to bypass safety features!
