That works.

Ok on the FET. Wasn't sure if they were proprietary making them harder
or impossible to repair if needed. Did they require calibration? If so
was it user friendly?
Don't think that it is proprietary. The clone that someone made
didn't seem to have a proprietary FET. I've got three of the things
(not even sure where the third one came from, oh, wait.... got two of
the same sort and then decided to upgrade (at a hamfest)).....

They've never given me a problem.

The calibration is, afaik, in the tip. I suspect that the only
calibration might be to make sure that the SWR with a disconnected tip
trips the protection. Never worried much about that.

Spray etch system for sale (Northamptonshire / UK)

Not sure if of any interest to anyone but I've got a Mega Rota-Spray RS1210 etch system taking up too much space in my workshop. I bought it as part of a job lot and haven't even plugged it in yet so unsure of it's working status but I was assured by the seller that it was in use without issue until their business closed.

I'm after ?200 for it - if you're (seriously) interested, let me know and I will put some liquid in and see if it heats up etc.

I've used Weller, once or twice Wen, OK, Metcal. Never really used
Edsyn. Giving Aoyue a try for their IR board preheater.

Mostly its what I can find. Weller is very available around here

Hi Jim,

? I checked out the links. Looks like a nice unit and spare tips are reasonably priced too. I dug out my Soldapullt and it has the original packaging and it was in fack made by (or labeled) Edsyn.I remember the Textronix store or brand too. I also have a Weller EC1002solder station that I bought new, rearely used it, and then one day it just wouldn't work anymore. The light went on then off, and no heat. Of course although it was like new it was also out of warranty. I tried to research the repair and they answer was the main circuit board for about $150 for the part, and they didn't even have one available. I may have to have a closer look and see if the new research I have done pays off and it may just be a bad solder joint or a bad connection somewhere.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: PCB's and SMD

Yep, I've almost bought a Hakko several times.? Probably will get one of those eventually.? Right now I do have a cheap Chinese SMT/hot air station.? So it's better than nothing.? Still tend to use my old cheap RS station.? Most the SMD stuff I do isn't that fine.? Occasionally as small as 805 but usually larger.
