Leslie 112 Differences in Parts?
2
A Leslie 112 showed up on my local CL at a low price and i'm interested in it as a "box of parts" buy for spares. I know the foam rotor itself is different from what you'd use for Hammonds, but I'm wondering if the rest of the parts (rotor pully and shaft, , belt, motors, bearings, etc) and the same as say a 110? I'd be getting it for less that the price of buying a motor stack, so even if that were the same I'd get it. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

"Midi" izing Hammond B3 Bass Pedals
7
I want to make my Hammond B3 bass pedals midi capable. I would like to trigger an external synthesizer's upright bass sound with the "Midi-ized" Hammond 25 pedal unit. I already have the Trak II string bass unit but that isn't quite making it for me. I figure I need to add physical switches and connect them to a midi chip or unit or something. Someone out there must have done this ..... as a matter of fact I just saw a you tube of barbara Dinnerlein she is playing great string bass sound with her pedals. I have a BSEE and have rebuilt b3's and Leslies so I feel like it is something I can do, one way or another. But I wanted to see if I could get a head start from this group. Can anyone out there help? John In Brooklyn

From bad to worse - Leslie in fast speed
8
My 122 Leslie now starts up normally. Goes in fast motion. Goes to slow motion after a few seconds. So far so good. But as soon as I start to play it switches to fast motion. And it stays there. What to do to repair this? For the confusion. My name is 'Kees' it might be 'Yankees' in the USA. Its 'Ali' in Morocco... Kees . I dropped some oil on the relay wheel that goes down in the transformer. It worked ok on Saturday. But on Sunday it got stuck again. How to repair this? Leslie 122. Thanks for helping out...

Hammond R100

Start Capacitor value? Tone generator would not start. Motor very hot. Cooled it down, turned on and gave it a spin. Seems to work fine. Looked in Archive.org manual but having schematics in 3 sections makes it pretty hard to find. Thanks. Part # would also be good.

Extending a Leslie cable
7
I have an RT3 (1960) with a Model 25 leslie (customized). I recently reorganized my studio and put the leslie on the other side of a door. This forces me to unplug the Leslie all the time, which is a hassle, but beats stepping on or tripping over the cable. 1. Are there Leslie cable extensions available that I can use? 2. Or is the best option to purchase/make a longer Leslie cable? Also, any maximum that I should be aware of??? Thanks in advance - Pat patazzmusic@...

Hammond R100 vs T200
2
The amplifier is basically a stereo (2 channel) version of the amp in your T-200. Usually quite reliable. Tab switches on transistor Hammonds of this vintage can cause problems, perhaps the tabs aren't switching the sound back to the main channel when up? Do the bass pedals sound? They also use the main amplifier and speaker. -- Virus-free. www.avast.com

Foam on the last production 3-series consoles

I recall reading somewhere that the last production Hammonds used a different type of foam that didn¡¯t have the issues of the previous years. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

C-3 s/n 94767
5
I have been asked to service a Hammond C-3. s/n 94767. It is connected to a Leslie 815. A new player of this church organ had made a long detailed list (2x foolscap pages) of "problems". 99% of what was written were quirks of these types of Hammonds that modern keyboard makers try hard to emulate. There were a couple of real problems. 1/ bottom C pedal not playing properly (fixed, was lever bent not pressing far enough) 2/ A3 note on upper manual not playing with either drawbar set A and B. 3/ no vibrato function for upper or lower keyboard. When switching vibrato on the volume drops significantly and sounds distorted if swell raised to try to hear it. How mush is involved in opening up to fix the A3 16' key contact? Is it possible that someone has disconnected the vibrato? What should I be looking for? Is this serial number likely to have foam? Anything else I should be looking for? It was quite clean. I cleaned it more and oiled it. Thank you Rick Whatson.

1960 B3/C3 Chop - New Look
2
I'm planning to re-cover my 1960 B3 (C3?) chop with new carpets/hardware. What's everyone thinking on looks? I'm thinking dark charcoal grey and black myself, given the original wooden blocks/rack sections are cig burned. I kind of like that (from previous owners) but I think cosmetically it needs a re-fresh. What you say?

What Leslie Goes with a Hammond R-100 Series Organ?
10
I've been offered a Hammond R-100 console with a Leslie. Unfortunately the owner passed away and his son is the person selling it and is trying to do it from a number of states away from the organs location. The organ is currently in storage. The only pic available is the front of the organ and shows 3 half moons. The instrument is 2 hours away from me. I hate to make the drive if it's a complete waste of time, so I'm looking for a clue as to what Leslie models would generally be used with this series organ. The three switches lead me to assume it will be a solid state, but have no clue about anything else. I haven't been able to find much info online. Thanks for any help!

Smooth Drawbar conversion
Hello, Hoping someone can point me in the right direction....I am hoping to replace the ratchet style drawbars on my CV with smooth ones, but smoothdrawbars.com seems to have gone offline, and the email address seems to have expired as well. Does anyone here know where I can find a comparable conversion kit? I'm not overly tech savvy, so a kit would be easier for me than trying to convert from scratch. Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thanks much! Paul in Wasilla Alaska

Hammond L-100-P
2
Hello everyone, I am searching for a service manual while trying to repair my old hammond L-100-P organ. I already have L-100 manual and some porta B schematics but these are not the same. Even porta B has different wiring between upper and lower part and different switches. In Croatia there is no professional service for these instruments. Does anyone sell spare parts as well? Marin

XB-2 -- HX3 thoughts, questions
7
Hi all, We are debating what to do with our XB-2 -- whose chip is dead, she's otherwise in nearly-new condition. I bought her around 1993, first time I'd had a brand-new keyboard! (only time so far!) I played her for about a year, my hands got disabled (carpal tunnel etc., got awful treatment from workers' comp) and I stopped playing for some years. CAE Sound checked her out a year ago, said she's in awesome shape except! the characteristic chip failure. One possibility is we figure out how to find the money, buy a HX3 retrofit kit -- one of my housemates looked at the installation info on the KeyboardPartner website and said they thought they could do the installation -- and then have the keyboard go to someone -- however, money is definitely an issue! Another possibility is, we get her to someone who plans to do that retrofit, for themselves. Occasionally we visit friends in the Los Angeles area, there's an active jam-band scene there -- my friend has a Nord Electro 3 (nice in some ways, not in others, and oy, those little lights trying to represent drawbars!) -- so I was thinking, another possibility might be to have the retrofitted keyboard live down there, to share in that scene. (I've met a handful of keyboardists in that scene, they're trying to play B3 type stuff, but haven't played on a B3)(and of course an XB-2/HX3 isn't a B3 either! but it's closer than many things). I'm fond of her, would love for her to get retrofitted and played! (not used for parts) ANYhow! Lurking behind all this is, I have a stored-since-circa-1992 C3 chop, done by Bill Beers/Keyboard Products, who I would love to have serviced/gotten into good playing shape -- I'm not going to try playing her now before having a good tech check her out, because my B3 had gotten that plastic-degrading thing, she was stored for some years, and Bob Schleicher (who has since retired) told me it's a good thing I didn't try to turn her on. But that's where I would probably want to put our money. So, questions -- -- is the link below, the place to order HX3/retrofit kits? -- how difficult/annoying/good? is the interface, of a XB-2/HX3-retrofitted keyboard? are they pretty easy to use, or no? thoughts? -- has anyone been thinking, gee, I really want to get an XB-2 whose chip failed, so I can do that retrofit! The more I think about this, the more I think it'd be great to have this keyboard go to someone who wants to retrofit her and is able to retrofit her. thanks all! Gesine * http://shop.keyboardpartner.de/XB2-retrofit-kit XB-2 retrofit kit, complete 789.00 euros "MUSE or DRB chip dead? Many, if not most XB-2 suffer from faulty TG chips which are no longer available. Get your dead XB-2 up and running again with our retrofit kit! Complete kit consisting of HX3 mainboard (pre-configured for XB-2 with all licences), preamp board with Leslie output stage, LCD/keyboard driver board and cables makes HX3 installation in (defective) Hammond XB-2 a snap. All functions (except pitchwheel) and preset buttons (8 separate presets for upper and lower manual) of XB-2 and LCD functions are retained, additional features of HX3 are available through menu system, including keyboard split, reverb, leakage adjust, MIDI CC set and base channel. Yields much, much better sound than original XB-2 - just search Youtube for "HX3 organ" for some demos.
