DAVE, IF THE TG LOSES TOO MUCH SPEED YOUR SCREWED FOR A RESTART. BUT A SPLIT SECOND WORKS. NOT A GREAT HABIT TO GET INTO FOR TG HEALTH, THATS WHY WE WOULD END A SONG OR TWO WITH A FULL CHORD AND TURN IT OFF. IT'S MORE OF A ROCKER THING BUT I'M SURE EVERYONE WHO HASN'T TRIED IT BEFORE WILL TRY THIS HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT. BEST WITH A FULL BLAST GRIND, ALMOST INTOXICATING. MM

I have heard of a move on the organ to "bend " a note by turning it off for a
second as you play and then starting it again has anyone heard of that

thanks

The left hand bass is thicker because Lee used a BC Hammond. I
think the late Bill Beer modified it also.
No foldback on the BC and that's why the bass is so strong.

Dear Group
???? I went to a high school in Flint Mi to see a concert with Lee Michaels and Frosty just outside of Detroit. The announcer came out and said that for the opening act please welcome a group that's only been together for a couple of weeks "Led Zepplin" it was great but then Lee and Frosty came on and I'll never forget that. Lee is an absolute must for anyone, that stuff still stands up today.

BOB, ONE OF MY LAST PRO GIGS WAS AT THE TROUBADOR CIRCA 1980. THE DRUMMER FOR THE WARM UP BAND WAS NON OTHER THAN...BART FROST AKA FROSTY. MY BASS PLAYER, BRUCE DUFF AND I PLAYED A GAME OF 'CAN YOU TOP THIS' OVER DRINKS WITH FROSTY RECALLING THE BEST GIG THEY EVER PLAYED. IT MUST HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY BORING FOR HIM BUT HE PUT UP WITH US. SORRY, I CAN'T SAY WHERE EITHER IS NOW.

I AM GOING TO DIG OUT MY OLD LEE MICHAELS, LEE MICHAELS, BECAUSE I REMEMBER LINER NOTES REFERRING TO THE EQUIPMENT SET-UPS. I WILL POST 'EM IF I CAN FIND 'EM. MM

PS. THE 'CAN YOU TOP THIS' CONTEST ENDED WHEN I BROUGHT UP THE FOLLOWING GIG. LEE & FROSTY OPENED UP WITH VIGOR AND THE FOLLOWING ACTS PALED IN COMPARISON, THEY WERE A GROUP CALLED THE MOTOR CITY 5, CHICAGO WHEN THEY WERE STILL THE TRANSIT AUTHORITY, AND HEADLINER JANIS JOPLIN. AMAZING.

Dan,
Yeah, us old farts got to stick together! We do have a purpose too.
To steer and teach the young farts. I've got a 16yr old boy who cooks on
guitar and runs rings around his crowd. I schooled him in the classics such
as Hendrix, Clapton, Carlos, and the like. He takes apart and shreds on tunes
by the afore mentioned while his buddies feel accomplished figuring out in
what order the two chords to some Blink 82 go. He joined myself and a tribe
of other OHFs for a charity gig. We did good old, GET YER MOJO WORKING
rock. You can't imagine a fathers pride when I looked over and saw my boy
firing it up. There was more than one tear making my keyboards slippery, no
shit! Anyways, if we don't do that, who we got to backup? (ha ha). Well I've
'bout bored you guys enough unless others think this is interesting, I know I
enjoy your guys experiences. PS It's twelve midnight. Do you know what
YOUR kids are playing??? OHF BOB

Talking of "No Woman No Cry", most Bob Marley songs have a Hammond in them.? "Iron Lion Zion" is very good as well.
?
As for solos, it's a bit obscure, but "Friday Night, Saturday Morning" by The Specials has a lovely bluesy solo in it.? Many Ska songs have Hammonds in, Jerry Dammers of The Specials was a great Hammond player.? Another good Ska one..."Monkey Spanner" by Dave & Ansell Collins, I heard it at a disco and just had to buy the record because it sounded so fantastic.? Quite rare though...
?
Also, how about "Let It Be"?By The Beatles or "All The Young Dudes" by Mott The Hoople...that has a superb Hammond part in it, not a solo, but the slow Leslie is put to great effect.

(THIS IS A MODIFIED COPY OF A MESSAGE SENT LAST NIGHT THAT LOOKS LIKE IT DIDN'T GET THROUGH, IF IT DID MY APOLOGIES TO ALL FOR REDUNDANCY-MM)

I WAS BEGINING TO THINK I WAS THE ONLY OLD FART OUT HERE THAT REMEMBERS LEE AND FROSTY! (LINDA, THAT OLD FART COMMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU OF COURSE).

IN THE 60'S THE SWING AUDITORIUM 'DOWN IN SAN BER'DINO', HOSTED ALL THE NATIONAL ACTS. LEE & FROSTY WERE LIKE THE HOUSE BAND, WARMING UP FOR (AND BLOWING AWAY) MOST OF THE BANDS WITH THE HAMMOND SOUND (THIS IGNORANT TEEN COULD NOT TELL WHICH ONE HE USED), AND A LITERAL MOUNTAIN OF LESLIES. I SWEAR IT WAS NOT THE DRUGS IT WAS THAT AWESOME SOUND WE ALL KNOW & LOVE.

FOR SONG SUGGESTIONS "BEFORE AND AFTER THE PALE":
'GIMME SOME LOVIN' AND OTHER CLASSIC WINWOOD WITH SPENCER DAVIS, TRAFFIC AND DON'T FORGET BLIND FAITH; FACES WHILE THEY WERE STILL SMALL, 'ITCHYCOO PARK', OGDEN'S NUT GONE FLAKE ALBUM WHILE MARIOTT WAS WITH THE BAND(MCLAGEN TAUGHT WELL CAUSE STEVE PLAYED SOME HAMMOND WITH HUMBLE PIE)AS WELL AS FIRST STEP WITH RON WOOD AND ROD STEWART, SIDE 2 IS PEERLESS, (YOUNG FOLKS, THAT WOULD BE TRACK 6 ON I BELIEVE); GARTH HUDSON AND THE BAND,(I ALWAYS LOVED THE POWER OF 'CHEST FEVER'); ANYTHING ORIGINAL ALLMANS; AL KOOPER'S FIRST GIG ON THE HAMMOND WAS HIGHWAY 61 REVISITED, THEY ALREADY HAD A GUITARB PLAYER (THE LATE MIKE BLOOMFIELD), SO KOOPER THE STUDIO HANGER ON DID A FEW LICKS ON HAMMOND, AND HIS FRIEND THE ENGINEER WAS TRYING TO SHOW HIM THE DOOR WHEN DYLAN SAID 'KEEP HIM, I LIKE THAT SOUND'. AND DYLAN WAS INDEED A GENIUS, CAN YOU IMAGINE THOSE SONGS, ESPECIALLY 'LIKE A ROLLING STONE' WITHOUT THE HAMMOND? OH YEAH, DON'T FORGET SUPER SESSION KOOPER, STILLS AND BLOOMFIELD 'SEASON OF THE WITCH', YES THE DONOVAN SONG!

I THINK I HAVE SHOWN MY AGE ENOUGH FOR TODAY, SORRY FOR MISSPELLINGS AND COBWEB REMEBERANCES....MAYBE IT WAS THE DRUGS! MIKE

I read about Tower of Powers keyboardist in one of the recent issues

today to get Fly like an eagle, they can`t keep Steve in stock used
and a new disc wasn`t in the budget. I remember Green eyed lady but
can`t remember the organ part right now. I do remember it was
killer. Thanks to all for the suggestions. Casey
