FT-871ND ACC Pinout for MX-P50M Power Amplifier

Edited

The documentation for wiring the ACC plug from the MX-P50M power amplifier is sparse. I realize it should be simple with the black control wire going to the GND and the red control wire to the TX GND pins of the ACC.?
I'm looking for confirmation that I am using the correct pins on the 8-pin Mini DIN plug. Please excuse my crude ASCII diagram and numbering of the pins; the view is looking into the bottom of plug, i.e., at the exposed pins.?

I have black (GND) going to pin 4 and red (TX GND) going to pin 8. Is this correct?

Hi Mark, that seems correct to me, but I'm going by the diagram at the bottom of page 113 of "The Pack-it Reference for the Yaesu FT-817".

Strike that Mark, all I've done is confirmed what you've said you're doing. Pin "8" is "TX Inhibit". I 'll leave this to folks that do know what they're talking about ...

Hi Mark

Here is a link, you may have to scan it with mouse, to the FT-817 service manual. On page 23

of the PDF is a picture of the CAT and DATA and all of the plugs really.

I don't know if it will help in this instance because it looks like it is mirror image.

But it is the service manual and it might be helpful to download it to keep.

Hope this helps.

Steve and Marty,

Thank you for your responses. The service manual is a keeper for sure. I found what I needed from the schematic on page 29. It shows the 8-pin Mini DIN configuration and the pin-out for each. Since this connector is prefixed with the letter J, I am assuming the view is as if I'm looking into the jack (female connector) on the backside of the 817. Is that correct??

Hi Mark

I think so, but you may have to use a meter to confirm that. I have looked for a confirmation

and never really found a printer form. It has been a lonnnnng time since I have assembled a

connection cable for the 817 I just can't remember.

Do need to watch these connector pin-out diagrams.? Once wired a Yaesu mobile rig mic connector for a digital interface and on one side was 5V pin from inside the rig and on opposite side was PTT pin.? Well the diagram was backwards and ended up wiring PTT to 5V and when keyed it shorted out the 5V and damaged a PC board trace inside.? Connector diagrams need to identify what is shown and from what side.

I think the connections in the FT817 manual are correct as looking into the connector from the rear of the rig.? I have wired interface to the DATA connector and came out correctly as shown in manual.

To be sure, look at the numbers on the connector.
