Peter Plewka

Yes folks, ALL VERSIONS OF THE FT-817 have the 1750 Hz tone call feature
built in. See the manual for details.

Yes, the EU version uses the HOME button to activate it.

Re: Dayton News

Hi Mike,

Some US dealers are carrying ATX antennas.

Like PowerPortStore.

I talked with them just the other day and they are unable to get any
right now...seems the ATX folks had a contract with a US company and
have to supply them first. Jo K5HOY

Best Price FT-817 at Dayton Hamvention?

I don't know about everyone else saying they were quoted a price of
$669 USD at HRO. When I checked on Friday AM HRO was selling them for
$639 UDS each!? So I got one, paid cash, and my printed sales slip
shows the price I was quoted above. Maybe they were selling so fast
they jacked the price up to match the vendor in the next booth, which
was quoting a price of $669 USD each, later on. Hummm?

The highest price I was quoted was $760 USD from Michigan Radio. When
I said I could get one from HRO much cheaper I was told, by a sales
agent at the vendor's booth, that they were "selling old stock, and
not the model with the current factory changes". I checked at the
Yaesu booth and was told that was completely untrue.

Looks like Dayton's Hamvention is not the place for the careless
shopper if they want to save money. 8->>

Pres Waterman 817 power supply

YES! It's not as small as a laptop supply ( it is very compact ) but it
works well, 2A and excellent regulation.
Hi Pres,
Thanks for the info on the wallwart supply.
I did check their Web page and it is not listed up there.
Is the a model number I should know when calling them or can I just ask for a 2 amp,12 volt regulated
wallwart (that is nonswitching).
Thanks,

TRX Manager 3.0 has just been released. It supports the FT-817 (not memory
management like FT-Basic but it does some real neat things).

My US version also has the feature and I was able to test it out in Ireland last Christmas season in and around Dublin, great feature for radios that travel!

My understanding is that it is available on ALL versions not only those sold in EU.
