Re: I cannot turn off repeater shift mode on ten meters while in usb mode
Hi Mike, That doesn't sound like a repeater shift problem as repeater shift is only operational on FM. The shift is only 8.5 kHz so it may, in fact be that the radio is in split mode. Try

If you press the f key briefly then look for rpt, button a in row 4, I believe that you can turn the repeater function off, not near my 817 at present to? check. Andy

Re: Advice on selling
For a CW filter one can get as much as $200, about half what one can get for a used FT817.? But having the filter in the rig will make it sell quicker and for more. I have the Collins 500 Hz filter

I've got an FT-897 in a similar situation (full of filters, sitting idle), and my opinion is that while the filters have value outside the radio, and by selling them separately you may maximize your

Advice on selling
I plan to sell my FT-817ND in the near future as I'm not using it enough to justify keeping it. It has all the original accessories including the YF-122C and YF-122S Collins mechanical filters. I

Ron, I second your thoughts about butane powered soldering sets, especially Weller. Have used one for years in my travel and repair kits. If we believe what we believe Why do we do what we do?

Yep. You'd be amazed (if that's the right word) at how bad a modified sine wave inverter is. I had a XPower 1kw unit in my initial semi-off-grid solar system (only because it had been given

Re: Power bank questions
I'd do it the opposite way. Have a 12vdc 817 battery with a 12v to usb adapter. There are converters from 12 to 5 volts or an aux power (cigarette lighter plug) to usb. Mike

Re: Power bank questions
You'd probably be very surprised and disappointed if you look at a modified sine waveform. It's just a series of square top pulses alternating positive and negative. Same peak voltage as a sine wave

Re: Power bank questions
Greg, I agree we must always look at the AHr rating of the battery when getting one of these units, nothing new.? Even for 12V batteries for our rigs we need to check these ratings.? But the
