Perhaps the 817 and the 818 are just different enough that a clone from one to the other won’t work?

I have picked up a WhatsOn 3A Power Supply that plugs into the mains. Will that work ok with the FT818nd as it can deliver 3A continuous. Dont want to plug it in just in case without confirmation
