I had to laugh - I blurted out "of course!" As soon as I read that. ;^) Ken, N2VIP On May 19, 2024, at 10:01, John <ve3ips@...> wrote: |

Re: FT817 portable go case
Hi All and many thanks for the suggestions, I loved the cardboard box idea hihi I think after considering most.if the options I have I'll go with an aluminium flight case as that seems the best option? 73 Kev G4XLO? Re: Anderson power pole connectors
Joe,
It depends on where you buy them I guess.? McMaster had some that worked pretty well but as other have pointed out the mating slots and tabs are not identical.? We (my FIRST robotics team) ended up gluing them together when used in pairs.? Others are pretty good knock offs.? Price is kind of a clue.? If they are really cheap, they are not likely worth it.? The McMaster ones were pricey but we live close to headquarters and can have them in will call same day.? In a hurry I can run up to West Mountain Radio ( less than an hour away) and pick them up same day as well. Al Skierkiewicz WB9UVJ |
Re: Anderson power pole connectors
开云体育I ran into some knock-offs where the shells lacked a thru-hole for the metal prong to go thru - you couldn't see thru an empty connector.Ken, N2VIP On May 18, 2024, at 09:50, Tobias KK7BCO/2M0TFF <feltusfecit1@...> wrote:

Re: Anderson power pole connectors
I bought powerpole knockoffs from Amazon a few years ago. The housings would not mate up with the Powerwerx housings. The looked similar enough though. I wont try them again.?

Re: FT817 portable go case
开云体育Hi Sandip?Yes the MyDel mini back pack is also the one I think would fit the bill, I would just like to see and feel the quality of construction. Cardboard and plastic boxes don’t do it for me as I don’t drive anymore(macular eye problems) so true portable is the only solution! Ken, So you are right, that EMF units are dying slowly… :( |
Re: Collins mechanical filters installation guide for Yaesu FT-8xx radios - update 15May24
开云体育I think the filter production process is non-trivial, and every year the market shrinks as the technology moves away from add-in filters. To my knowledge there are no radios in current production that accept add-in filters, so the market is shrinking as old radios die. Electronic replacements may be an option, but I feel the investment might never be recouped without charging non-ham friendly prices. Hi folks, |
Re: FT817 portable go case
lol, I have a couple of severly?worn game pads from Nostromo (now owned by razer, and their new stuff is CRAP) I kept one because I repaired it so many times and it technically even still functions due to all the repairs. (but was ultimately replaced with a newer model) The newer one was still functioning when I stopped using it because I got tired of changes to the game (Warcraft) that I was using it upon.? The drivers and software have since vanished with the acquisition by Razer and replacement of both the device lines with razer-branded equivalents and overhauls to how they interact with the system. But I kept both of them not only for how frankenstiened?they ended up being by the time i was finished with them, but to show the 'wear' I put them through. The second one is worst for wear, being backlit under the keys, most of the plastic coating over the keys is completely worn through showing the translucent plastic underneath. The plastic on the thumb control shows a permanent indentation the shape of the side of my left thumb. If you look really close, you can even make out a few lines of finger print?lines.? The home row of the four middle keys have permanent grooves FROM MY FINGERNAILS! This is in no way a condemnation on the nostromo devices. it's a testament to just how much abuse they endured. I used them not only for over 3 years of variety game play, but ultimately spent 6 months uber-gearing a character with the best possible gear I could get for player-vs-player then spent about 2-3 hours a night for 3 months doing nothing but pvp to enjoy the fruits of my labors. (over 35000 total kills in those 3 months). It's a hoot to see just what kind of abuse that puts on a plastic gaming appliance so I keep it on my shelf as my own nostalgic 'trophy'.? Being somewhat aggressive as it was in pvp, I'm amazed it lasted as long as it did and is still working at all! SW |
Re: FT817 portable go case
开云体育Thanks for the heads up on the linkage SNAFU, Keith.I believe it's time to toss and replace this darn mouse. I'm a bit ashamed to admit how many times I've spritzed the microswitch and button to "fix" its double-select malady - especially considering the paltry cost for a new one.
