Re: Probléme SSB
Olivier, I am able to read your post en Fran?ais, but I will respond in English instead of using Google Translate. My ability to compose in French is awful. Yes, it could be the PA but the way to test is to use a service monitor and a signal probe and determine if the modulator output looks correct, and then follow the signal path to find the failure. Maybe you can find a RF technicien in your area? Courage, mon ami! N1QDQ

Re: Probléme SSB
Bonjour Peter?
?? 73's F5RRO Olivier |

When you set a parameter on the radio (from radio buttons), the EEPROM is written anyway, even if you don't use a CAT command for that. So ... let's not change the parameters to often not to brick the radio? I've developed an application (available for free on my web site) that allows you to find different parameters location in the EEPROM for FT8x7 radios. You change them on the radio and then read the EEPROM and look at the changes. What you must take care is: - save full EEPROM data (especially calibration area) before playing with the EEPROM - do not send dangerous commands (like EEPROM RESET) - do not write EEPROM in loops, use write only if and when you need to change a parameter. 73 Dan YO3GGX On 11/16/2022 9:40 AM, Dave AA6YQ wrote:

+ The FT-817's EEPROM is rated for 1 million write operations. Exceed that, and you'll permanently brick your radio, because Yaesu has no replacement EEPROMs. + This has been known for many years. de AA6YQ |

Re: Probléme SSB
Hello Olivier,
Is this happening on both 2m and 70cm? Also, are you seeing the carrier on a spectrum display or hearing it? It's good having two so you can tell only one is having the problem. The 817 is known to put out more than 5W on 2M, but 8-10 seems high even for that. I don't have a diagnosis other than it sounds like a failure in the Q1033 modulation section, but I didn't want your post to twist in the wind. https://www.rigpix.com/yaesu/ft817-817nd_service_2005.pdf Pete, N1QDQ |
Re: Check out Yaesu FT-897D to LDG AT-897 - Radio to Auto Tuner Cable - 12 inches on eBay!
Any recommendations for a place that does Yaesu FT897 Service? I just picked up one at an Estate Sale, it works well except it has only about 10-watts output power on the HF bands. I haven't tried VHF yet. ? I already have an FT-817, for when I want to work with QRP.?I enjoy running it at the 1/2-watt power level on the internal batteries, which always amazes the Net Controls of the nets I check into! ?
