Re: Recommendations for a replacement battery pack for F-817ND
I have seen number of negative comments on the WindCamp, also cost way too much. I like the Bioenno LiFePO4s, they are excellent.? A 9AHr that will power the FT817 for many hours cost over $100, but

Re: Recommendations for a replacement battery pack for F-817ND
I've had good luck with Windcamp batteries. Only complaint is they are a bit tight fitting in battery compartment. I've also seen some lightweight lithium batteries on Amazon. A bit large perhaps for

Re: Recommendations for a replacement battery pack for F-817ND
For a budget purchase the tried and true 12 v 7 ah sla is hard to beat at $20 - $25. A 9 pack of 18650 cells will fit nicely in the radio footprint. 3 banks of 3 cells in parallel, each bank in series

Re: Pros and Cons for keeping my FT 817ND
I had a KX3 and sold that, I still have an FT-817ND. The price difference meant I could achieve my next purchase more easily by selling the KX3. My main gripe with the KX3 with the poor speaker

Re: Pros and Cons for keeping my FT 817ND
I use my FT-817ND mostly as an IF rig for VHF and microwave operation. I use it directly on 50, 144 and 432 MHz CW/SSB; as a 28 MHz IF for 222; as a 144 MHz IF for 902, 1296, 2304, 3456, 5760, 10368
