TX Inhibit
I want to connect a receive only loop antenna and don't want to risk killing it if the 817 goes into transmit. Is there a way to inhibit the TX output. I could remove the mic so that the PTT is not

I miss 6-Land especially in the winter. But to be honest the firearms laws
would keep me from living there.

Hello Dr. Tim,
Thank you for your response. Nowadays there are quite a few repeaters in the Santa Cruz area. I doubt I will have any difficulty finding one or more when I

Re: Problem with Bluetooth Unit and FT817ND
Absolutely. The key point is how little current, 79mA or less, may be drawn from the CAT interface before the possibility, or likelihood, of a difficult and/or expensive repair. [Annoyingly,

OT: Visitor Friendly VHF/UHF repeaters in Santa Cruz, CA
I will be taking the maiden voyage in my new (used) motorhome to the Santa Cruz area next week. I would like to use my FT-817ND on 2-meters and 70cm. Are there any locals in the Santa Cruz/Felton

Re: Problem with Bluetooth Unit and FT817ND
Hello Robin,
The resistor rating has probably been chosen to act as
a fuse, ie to burn up before anything else does, especially
thin PCB traces, so uprate it at your peril.

Re: MH-36E8J Mic
G’day Eric, that’s what I thought – but the old brain just isn’t as reliable as it used to be
Didn’t even think of looking at the schematic...

Re: MH-36E8J Mic
Hi Steve,
I think you’ll find that the P2 doesn’t do anything.
On the FT817, there are just the three specific lines on the mic socket being Up, Down and Fast so those are the only three

G’day, I have the above mic on my 817 (the DTMF is handy).
The RJ45 locking tab on the mic lead broke, so I replaced it this morning and all is good EXCEPT I am having a brain fade on what

Re: Problem with Bluetooth Unit and FT817ND
Adding to Dan's note, the resistor*R1235* is rated at *1/16W, 10Ω*, thus offering a maximum rated current of *79mA* before the resistor is overloaded. (Say 200Ω load max, more if the supply goes

Re: Problem with Bluetooth Unit and FT817ND
Hi Jon,
If the LED flashes, then the module is waiting for pairing. You need first to pair the Bluetooth module with your Android Device.
You can do this from the Android System Settings or directly

Re: Problem with Bluetooth Unit and FT817ND
Hi,
You need to check if the resistor providing +13.8V power on the FT817 connector is not burned out. This is a very common issue with FT817.
It is about R1235. To locate it check the following
