I seems that the 5W position should simply bypass the attenuator.? Is there a similar attenuation circuit in the B version that cold be hardwired bypassed?

Tokyo Hy-Power HF Lin Amp HL100B
Is anyone using this amp with an FT817/8? Is it possible to modify the drive input to obtain 100watts output for 5watts in. With the newer bdx version their is a switch to select 5 or 10 watts drive for 100watts out so I thought the b model might have the same circuitry but just no switch.?

Re: 60dbm Neptune Amplifier + or -
If you happen to be at the Hamvention this weekend, please stop by the HobbyPCB booth in building 1, booth 1912. We'll have the new 10th Anniversary Hardrock-50 and the 100W Hardrock-50+ on display and for sale.?
The RF circuit in the Neptune in surprisingly similar to the Hardrock-50's RF deck. The big difference between the amps is the control system; the HR50 is fully integrated with most QRP transceivers from Yeasu, ICOM, Xeigu, ELAD and others without relying on frequency detection. The Hardrock amps all have optional internal ATUs? Hope to see you at the show. 73, Jim WA2EUJ |

Thanks for the update and your use with the amplifier. I believe I will take the plunge. I live in a canyon and need more than QRP output to get of? the hills on certain bands.I currently? use a Mirage 2m amp for 2m ssb (2.5w in - 25w out)and would like to work 6m but with 5w my local contacts write and tell me they can barely hear me.
I have an IC 751a which is 100w but no 6m, VHF/UHF output. Did not want other? devices sitting on the table such as transverters and decided the 817 with two small amps (2m and a Neptune) would not take up too much space and still be portable. Ideally a 857 or 897 would be perfect but that would be an added expense.? Here are some specs on the amplifier which details some of the components: Neptune Amplifier – 50w Amplifier This amplifier works very well, easily producing 50 watts with a drive around 2 watts. It requires no special interfacing only a cable connected between the amp and radio. Details: Nominal power supply – 13.5v – Cable included for connect Amplifier to Radio |

开云体育I have one here. ?It arrived about 2 weeks after the order and works as advertised.Power out on 12 meters was lower than the other bands with the same drive level, but meets the 3 dB flatness spec. ?It looks well-made. But I’ve only used it with my IC705 so far. ?I will give the 817 a go soon. You might consider an IC-706 mk2 G with the Power Port backpack that has a compartment for a 9 aH lithium iron phosphate battery. ?That’s what I replaced my 897 with when its microprocessor failed. I’ve found thst to be a close equivalent and maybe somewhat lighter. Scott ka9p On May 13, 2024, at 2:54?PM, AG3 - KI6DOZ <2gatos@...> wrote:

Just make sure it has low pass filters or you'll need to add your own.

That's the name of the company and the URL to the? online store.
I would just like to know if any ft 817 owners have used the 50w Neptune amp. eHam.net has a few positive reviews but I would like to hear from those on this forum. The? amp covers HF plus 6m which would be good for me and the cost is reasonable. I am still debating on getting a FT 897 to do what the ft 817 does with more power. |

Re: How to remove SEL knob and VFO knob on FT-817
Hi Eddy,
If I remember correctly, the Yaesu and most major Japanese radios use the JIS standard hex screws ( slight difference in size and taper angle). I've used the standard 1.5 on my 817ND and it came loose very easily. Sounds like yours got torqued down a bit tighter. Use at your own peril, but a drop of WD40 applied with precision should do the trick (it worked for me on a stubborn case screw.) |

Re: How to remove SEL knob and VFO knob on FT-817
开云体育Hi Ed, ? I can confirm that the 1.5 mm Allen key is the correct size. They are usually quite tight and will need a bit of force to loosen. (I just checked on mine.) Insert the short end of the key into the grub screw and use the longer end to loosen it. ? Regarding the select knob, the shaft is a D shaped one and the knob just pulls off, It may leave the metal spring section on the shaft which will need to also be removed. ? 73….Eric VK2VE. ? How to remove SEL knob and VFO knob on FT-817
Hello,
I am replacing the SEL rotary encoder on the FT-817 and want to make sure I do it without breaking anything. What size allen key (hex wrench) do I use to undo the VFO knob? I tried using a 1.5 mm allen key but I can't loosen the screw. I don't want to apply undue force and damage something by using the wrong tool. How do I get the knob off the SEL encoder. Do I just pull it outwards while the unit is still fully assembled? Again, I tried pulling it off with some gentle force but it didn't budge. Since the encoder is being replaced anyway I'm OK with applying more force but I want to make sure that I'm approaching this the right way. Thanks Ed |
QRPworks at Hamvention
Hi All,
Hamvention is just around the corner and QRPworks is looking forward to being there again. We'll be in the same inside booth as last year in building 2...booth 2804. If you're going, stop by if you can and say hi. (BTW, our custom FT-817/818 CAT cables to connect to our SideKar Decoder Edition are back in stock) 73, Shel KF0UR & Steve KB3SII QRPworks, LLC |
