Re: English info
Well, this page was written unofficially by a well-known Yaesu guy. Perhaps his "pre"-review missed something, because I am rather sure it does cover 6. Also, Japanese specs often differ from US in

Re: English info
The FT-817 does indeed cover the 6 meter (50-54MHz) band. That is a typo on the web page, which will be corrected presently. 73, Mike

Sorry for causing a panic. The 160-10 + 2 & 70cm in the text was confirmed as a typo. I guess either I was the only one wearing specs and saw it or everyone who saw it ignored it. We can all

Re: English info
Hi Mike! I knew you were out there. Looks like Yaesu has another winner in the works, eh? It would be a great benefit for the US hams that have NEVER been QRP before to receive in the package

Suggested options
How about a 5 W version of the ATAS-100 (ATAS-5 ?) driven by the 817? It could be made much smaller and portable. Gary N3JPU

Re: Digest Number 18
Doesnt look like there is provision for a snap on batt/amp pack on the rear Paul, Isnt there someone out there who knows of a say 50w all band/mode linear driven by 1-5 watts for variable output
By g0vgz@... · #140 ·
Re: Digest Number 18
heh heh heh Cute. An all mode linear. Is that like non-skid anti-lock brakes? Ten Tec used to make a 50 amp for the Argonaut rigs. If I recall, our FCC made things like that illegal to be sold
By Paul R. Valko <prvalko@...> · #141 ·
Re: Amp
QST March and April 1999. 1 watt in, 50-60 out. I built one and it works well. On the other hand, I hardly ever use it. 5 watts is almost always enough (except for SSB when you are down in

Re: Digest Number 18
Sorry Paul, You know what I'm getting at though, probably the mad thing about my request is that we are waiting for a qrp rig to show (who needs a linear) I'm sure I dont but I am curious if there
By g0vgz@... · #143 ·
Re: Digest Number 18
Oh! sorry Paul I forgot , 50amp ? is this why the FCC back-heeled it because the company should have printed 50watts on the Arganaut ? or is it because ur typing this while you are stamping on ur

Glad you did not take offense John! I am still chuckling over it a few hours later. Here in the US there is another odd term we hear in the media frequently... a high-powered assault rifle! Like
