I built one and it works well. On the other hand, I hardly ever use it.
5 watts is almost always enough (except for SSB when you are down in the
noise). Remember, that's only around 10db (5 watts to 50 watts). So if
you are 10 over 9 with the amp on, you will still be S9 with the amp off
(assuming the S meter is calibrated).

the rear Paul, Isnt there someone out there who knows of a say 50w
all band/mode linear driven by 1-5 watts for variable output ?
