Hi Ed,
I had a similar problem with the rig shutting down. The problem was "rf"
getting into the power supply. When I moved the rig off and away from the
power supply the problem disappeared. Hope this helps...Gary -AA6R-

Subject: [FT817] New User having trouble with 2M Repeater
Hi. I am a new owner of a FT817 and I having trouble hitting my local
repeater with the Yaesu supplied rubber duckie antenna. I can hit the
repeater with my ICOM HT so I should be able to hit it with the 817 on 5W
output. I can hear other folks on the repeater so this is clearly a
transmit option setting problem. I must my optioning something wrong ....
the meter does show output. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong ?
Also, the rig will shut itself off in transmit mode occasionally. Is this
something caused by a low battery condition ? Couldn't see anything in the
manual about this.
This seems like a great rig. The reciever is unbelievable !
In advance thanks for the help !
