Just a heads-up to those who might be interested...
I am now streaming live audio from my FT-817 here in Hong Kong which
is set up as an online Internet radio, controlled with KingSmith
Software's RATS FT-817 and MS Netmeeting. Radio control (tuning)is
limited to a select group during the testing period, but the audio
can be heard by anyone 24/7 by placing Windows Media Player on your
desktop, going to FILES, Open URL, and typing the following IP and
port: then, Ok.
The audio from the FT-817 is impressive! Everyone has commented on
the quality. If you take a listen, you'll likely hear 567AM, Radio 3
(music and talk), Hong Kong airport approach on 119.1, a shortwave
station I happen to be listening to, or some activity on the HF ham
bands or 2 meters.
The utlimate goal is to make the FT-817 available for receive ONLY
operation via the Web. For transmit use, Netmeeting and RATS FT-817
is all you need using the "share" feature of NM. Netmeeting does not
have the quality of audio needed for shortwave, mediumwave or FM
listening.
Updates on the status of this system, which I believe is the first
FT817 to be used in such a fashion (please let me know if you have
information to the contrary), can be found at the Online Internet
Radio Community site: www.CommunityZero.com/onlineradios
Questions and reports from listeners is welcome.

P.S. If you receive no audio after connecting with Windows Media,
try later...we may be using the host computer or FT-817 temporarily
for another task.
