My dealer in the Netherlands (Schaart Communications -
) replaced my FT-817 - no questions asked!
So I am back on the air, but very careful!

Same thing happened to me about a month ago. But I didn't have any
power on uhf/vhf either. I sent it into yaesu service, and about 3
long weeks later, it came back. On the repair ticket, it said that
they replaced a FET and a resistor. I am assuming that this would be
the power FET.
However, now it works. I did have to correct the power supply
voltage
reading, because it displayed the voltage as being exactly 1 volt
higher. Weird.
I'm not sure what caused this all. The only thing that could have
failed in my case would have been my zm2 tuner, as I discovered an
intermittent contact later on. But still, the output should have
rolled off in that case, causing no damage. I don't know. I am just
really careful now.
Good Luck!

Even without the battery pack, the power remains low. On HF,
no
power comes out (according to the FT-817's power bars: 0 bars!).
On
the other hand, my power supply shows about 1 A current.

Hi Rene,
This may be a dumb question, but are you sure you have TX power
output selected for 5 W (Operating Function Row 10, A Key)?
With
the
13.8 V supply, you should have no icon for the TX power out
showing.
