I built a simpler cable/converter that works well.
Go to and look at the
bottom of the schematic on page 2. I just built the serial interface
part that is involved with the DB9 connector at bottom right. I was
able to (tightly) get a bit of perfboard and the circuit inside the
DB9 housing. I only used one of the Key or PTT lines though. If you
want to build it I'll check on which one. Whichever it is uses a
seperate shielded line also out of the DB9 shell and terminates in a
1/8" audio plug.
I've used it a few times now with FTBasic to load/unload memories.
