Re: SSB Filter Selection - Performance

Sounds like you are the first one to really say the SSB filter is
worth anything. Maybe all of us ASSUMED since the specs were so close
that the reality would be ho-hum

You know, it seems so open inside the rig in that area ( from memory
)...do you think it would be possible to cram 2 in and somehow switch
them?

I imagine you may have one-of-each in your 2 FT-817s?

Thanks

Well, one will remain filterless for the time being and the other gets
filter swaps when needed.

Yes, the "gross" specs lead us all to think that the filters were very
much the same, but not so I think now. I will try to collect my data
and post it at one time in the near future.

I also have been trying to figure a good way to have both filters
installed. The way to do it is to remove the ceramic filter and
replace it with the mechanical SSB filter (some impedance matching
likely required). The ceramic filter is small by comparison. If you
are willing to remove the speaker (I'm not), then there is adequate
space. I have my eye on the space for the TCXO. It will be a few
weeks before I have time to really consider making this mod. If I
can, then Menu #38 would be set to CW and the new SSB filter will be
active as was the ceramic filter. NAR will flip the CW filter in and
out. Best arrangement of all!
