Hi Phil! Glad you found a solution that works for you.

My ATX hasn't arrived yet. But I've used various BNC cables as well
as the factory "duckie" & another HT antenna. I haven't had a
problem with seating the BNC connectors. Yes, it's *plenty* tight,
but that's a good thing as far as I am concerned; esp. when I try to
use the ATX on it ('tho I'm in the process of making my own mounting
bracket to use w/the SO-239 on the back panel along the lines of the
bracket in the FILES section of the NG).

Instead I found that using a flat file and removing between 1-2mm
from the bottom of the bnc connectors on my erials, both now fit
perfectly on the FT-817 with no problems whatsoever.
