Hi all
Have been following the 817 thru this group. Now that Yaesu has
shipped some to the US, my interest has grown. The literature say the
rig is 2.5W on anything less than 13.8vdc (unless reset thru the
menu). So my question....
HOW EFFECTIVE IS 2.5W GOING TO BE ON SSB?(or even 5W)
I know 2.5w is very effective on CW, but I'm not the least bit
inclined to use CW even with soundblaster decoder programs. That
leaves my 'favorite mode'...Voice
I'd really hate to spend $700+ to find that the 15db (2.5 s-
unit) 'penalty' would require an equally large investment in an
antenna farm just to have a decent QSO.
