I observed this problem several months ago on my 817. BUT! I select a tuning steps with "SEL" knob 1kHz on SSB, CW, DIGI, and 5 kHz on FM and AM, this problem dissaperad!
You can do it on "menu" with yellow "F" (function ). Try it, maybe it will be help. Do not ask for reason Hi, just try!
