I have never noticed those before. I have bought quantities of Powerpoles from sellers at hamfests. They said they were genuine Andersons. Now looking at them, I see those A's on the ends.
Using the crimp tool meant specifically for Powerpoles is a must if you do a large number of them. I have probably put hundreds of them on various cables.
