Our club chairman will never use FB. I use it a lot but it does have some problems. I've been able to find a cousin and his kids I knew nothing about! I prefer LinkedIn, lots of people I know there, some I haven't seen for many years. It's more for professional users, of course.

I don't understand what people's problem with Facebook is. It's a social media. Maybe they're not social?
I
have almost 3,000 friends on Facebook. I would guess somewhere between
500 and 1,000 are radio amateurs all around the world. It's nice to have
that means to keep in touch with them. A lot of large ham radio groups
(Society of Midwest? Contesters, ARRL Contests discussion group, CWOPS,
ham radio microwave community to name a few) have a strong presence on
Facebook. In 12 years of being on Facebook, I have never had any
problems due to it. If you're afraid of information harvesting, that
happens on internet discussion groups, too. Heck, I Googled something
the other day and all of a sudden ads for that type of thing started
showing up on every webpage I looked at.

Gday Adam,
Is there a way to take part even if one eschews Facebook?
if it were an .IO group I would be on board post haste.
