#1 -They should have left the power alone. ?5w is as good as 6w on the air, but 1w is not as good as 1/2watt when driving any transverter.

#2 ¨C I¡¯ve heard a KX3 on 6m.? I have neve heard a KX3 on 2m or 70cm.? The 2.5w (measured) 2m board for the KX3 is a joke.? And not once have I ever heard a KX3 in any of the V/UHF contests.
?
#3 ¨C the KX3 is a very good radio.? But a 100% replacement to the FT-817 is it not.? And for portable operations in quiet locations the FT-817 is plenty good enough.? Earned stuff like this many times.?

Just got a 3-ele Yagi for 6m that weighs under 3 pounds.? Can¡¯t wait for the next VHF contest to try it out.
Apart from the inexplicable woeful 70cms image rejection and power socket battery drain issues, I can't see why the FT818nd is inferior to the venerable 817 Mike? I totally agree about the 6 watts issue though, leaving the current consumption aside, it moves the radio out of its QRP status. I have a love hate relationship with mine. I love the little thing and wouldn't part with it, but my KX3 has the edge in many ways. Apples and oranges of course!
