¿ªÔÆÌåÓýPretty much I agree. The 818 was a huge nothing-burger. The TCXO-9 isn¡¯t necessary unless you¡¯re using micro-wave transverters.? The 6-watt level is a 20% increase in battery drain for about a 1 dB increase in signal strength. And the loss of the 0.5-watt level was a really bad move for those or us who drive transverters. ? HOWEVER, for anyone who does not own an FT-817ND, the FT-818 is the only other option presently available. So while most of us consider it to be inferior to the original, it is still a pretty fair radio. ? I¡¯m holding on to my two FT-817NDs, but I¡¯m waiting patiently to see what that new ICOM looks like.? It just might to what the KX3 failed to do, kill the FT-817ND monopoly. ?
