High noise across the bands is unusual unless there is something causing widespread hash.? Often these come from neon signs or plasma TVs both not often found in apartments these days.? Loop antennas are more sensitive broadside to the loop so if your loop goes around the room, then the noise is likely above or below you.? Dimmers can also produce a lot of hash but are usually not on all the time.? So if the noise comes and goes during the day that might give you a hint.? Do you have a ceiling fan in this room?? Does it have a remote control?? If so, you might try turning off the power to it.
