Identifying an FT-817ND versus FT-817
don schad
Hi all, I am trying to figure out if I have an 817 or 817ND.? ?After internet searching and looking at various pictures, I can not determine if the model number on radio or the nameplate contains the ND designation or not? So if someone could confirm if? the FT-817ND contains the letters ND on the tag or model number or not, I would really appreciate it. And, if the answer is "no", how would I tell?? I tried to determine it by serial number, but as I understand it this is ambiguous - my S/N starts "1K", which as my understanding means either 2001 or 2011?? ?Given that the ND was introduced in 2004 it could be either.?? Any help appreciated on this simple task! Thanks, Don |
开云体育Hi Don, As far as I know, one of the best ways to identify the ND model is to check Menu Item #15. If you have 3 display colors, ie, Blue, Amber, and Violet, then you have the ND model. Check this out and see how many display colors you have. Jim G. W4JRG |
Easiest way is to see it the display can be changed to two colors or three. The 817 has two colors and the 817ND has three. Check this link for list of differences.?

Thank you Jim and Don. I was able to confirm using the color menu that that I have an original-non ND FT-817. Your help is very much appreciated, Don?
