AD531 Roller noise

Hi,
?
My thicknesser/planer combo has recently started making a loud thumping noise accompanied by intense vibrating. I have isolated the sound to only when the rollers are engaged.?

Coincidentally I am also having trouble feeding timber through the thicknesser, I have to help it along with a bit of force and it often leaves marks on the timber.?

After doing some reading on the forums, I suspect it is a worn friction wheel causing this.?

I have tried to find a manual for the AD531 with no luck - does anyone have it?
?
Otherwise I’m going for advice/instructions on what to look out for to fix this issue. I can upload a video of the sound too.?

Thanks ??

It's the rubber (polyurethane) feed roller. Can't help with the manual, but you should have a parts list. You'll probably want to order one from Felder.?

Hi Brian,
?
thanks so much for your reply. Is the feed roller different to the friction wheel??

I’m quite new to machinery and not good with the terminology. Unfortunately I don’t have a paper manual hence why I’m trying to find an online version?

Friction wheel would be the proper term I guess... Can't help with the 531 manual, you will most likely need to contact Felder on Monday.

I have had the same problem.? I found that disengaging the feed drive when not in use will prevent the flat spot.? But sometimes I forget and the thump returns but after a while it goes away.? I think it just takes some time for the tread to rebound to round, but eventually it does.? Changing the wheel looks like major surgery and something to avoid if possible.? Good luck.

Hi XenonKuraz,
?
Files section has both manuals but not sure if the match your machine. As Brian suggested call Felder with the serial # of your machine and they will send you a link to download a soft copy. Meanwhile, Part2 below shows servicing of friction wheel on page 142.
