I went to the plaster dept. in the big box store and bought a couple of plasterers floats. They are inexpensive and last much longer the stuff sold to woodworkers.

I picked up couple of grout floats and they work great for me. You can test them on the lumber at the box store. They are bigger than typical push blocks made for jointers. Imran Malik
